Straight from their mission:
We believe winter wildland adventurers and future generations should have sizable areas of public land on which to experience the natural sights, sounds, and winter beauty of public lands free of motorized vehicles, and that our backcountry wildlife habitat should be protected from the negative impacts of motorized intrusion such as snowmobiles. We also believe it is the mandate of federal land-management agencies to responsibly manage motorized access to these cherished assets to ensure their protection for future generations.

So they want large amounts of public land to be free of snowmobiles and they want the government to be mandated to make this happen.

This **** pisses me off because they could care less about all the visitors in the summer months. Just have a vendetta against snowmobiles. The way I see is that we'll never gain an extra acre or mile on which to use our sleds - we just lose a little every year, and anyone trying to set aside land that we can't use is the enemy. Maybe that's harsh, but that side will never be happy until we are 100% gone. As far as REI is concerned, it's difficult to find a large company that doesn't somehow support the opposition (sure you can buy klim, but gore-tex supports some of these groups as well), but we have to do the best we can to avoid supporting those who would prefer that we don't exist. Of course we also have to join MSA, Blue Ribbon Coalition, etc. and do our best to respect the areas we ride on and not create ammunition for them...
What is McDonalds view on snowmobiles, I have certificate left over from Halloween that I plan to use as stocking stuffers. Just kidding. We are way off topic. Nobody gets anything this year from me. I am boycotting Walmart. I will show them who's boss. Only can buy china made trinkets anyways for $30-$50.

Anyone who dares you not to buy from them is a fool. With the internet I can find someone else in a heartbeat. Never puff up your chest to far in business, because someone else is in line to take your business. I am a firm believer in this economy that one must learn to eat hamburger instead of waiting around for a steak. I just happen to have learned how to eat Hamburger Helper without the hamburger to stay afloat until money starts flowing again. I can live without any extra bolt on crap for my sled, but sitting in the dark without electric or heat gets a little tough. spend wisely.

Amen!!! I had service providers come back to me last year after telling me to get somebody else & would not even consider meeting comp. Had to tell them sorry but you told me find someone else & we did & they are very good partners have not raised their price in 5 years & perform high quality service. You had the business & your order to lose & you would not even consider meeting comp & chose to walked away from our business. Sorry not interested. I don't like having to tell people no but lost business is extremely difficult to win back. Not meeting comp for existing business is just throwing away income.

http://georgia.sierraclub.org/ico/rei.aspx

do a google search for REI and sierraclub, lots and lots of references.

I have no proof but think that REI like many others don't list the sierraclub on thier site anymore due to a huge fallout from all those that oppose the sierraclub and it's agenda. Just my .02

I too love the products at REI but will do everything not to give them any money. Searching online, it's not too hard to find replacements at about 1/2 the cost as REI would charge.

How about a map bag, trail munchies, led flashlight, leatherman tool, exhaust spring puller, gift certificates to a restaurant near their riding area, new maps, and as always stickers!
