It depends on who you are buying for...

Like everyone's ideas so far - 'cept Ezras?! It IS unfortunate that there are people we're just EXPECTED to buy for. I personally love buying my friends' gifts - not too much money but I know the things I get them they wouldn't neccesarily buy for themselves.
GOOD socks are always good.
Gas card is a good idea.
Base layers is also a good idea - but that's something I personally wouldn't anyone else to pick out cuz I'm picky that way.

another idea for gifts are local gift cards for the everyday things, not something shipped in from china. (car washes, salons, oil changes, ...your mom and pop stores that are being hurt by the recession) after all, we are a service nation, fewer and fewer things are being made here.

I like the Muff pot Idea. A&D cycle has them on sale! Anyone mount one on a RMK Pro yet? seen pics of it done but does another bracket need fabrication to make it sit flat?

Question to the folks who sell things and advertise on this site, Can you match prices to found prices of non advertisers here? We all would love to buy from you since you support JDee........But the almighty dollar does decide. The Internet has opened up the world. (I match prices daily with my tool business). Not looking for a pricing war, just a good deal!

usually on the few days leading up to xmass I buy a box of good stogies and a box of pint size scotch and a box of old school lunch bags for that classy wrapping paper look.
give them out to all the people I deal with through out the yr Reps cashiers guards drivers etc etc.
when buying for guys I just go to sears or the snap on truck look for some cool new gadget or a good old tool you can always use 2 of.
last yr instead of buying small gifts for every one in a particular family I went to the fireplace store used my discount and also got quantity discounts and bought 6 propane deck fire pits done shopping in 10 min.I know the kids were not excited but the kids get so much junk they don't know the diff.but I figured spending time on the deck around the fire with the family will be remembered long after the plastic tyco race track is in the dump.

I still remember when I hated practical gifts like clothing. Now, I love the idea of good shirts, socks, jeans, underlayers, etc. Maybe it is just me though.

Thank you Paul at Sled Solutions for having such an easy to order from web site. Also it was nice you take Paypal. Hope you throw in a few Summer sucks decals for me. Also was nice meeting you at Novi. Sorry I didn't get my Mtn. addiction spare gas tank from you, but I was un aware at the time that you carried that product when I ordered mine direct.

I hear ya there didn't think about the link it was about the stove! Wife bought mine at scheels.
I found it is easy to mistake RSI with REI. I found no proof that REI is non snowmobile. they do a lot for the environment and non motorized outdoor sports but in there web site I could not find any direct anti snowmobile statements.

Very interesting topic.......I hear ya on this one! I try to support local dealers as much as I can & a few bucks more does not matter but 25% to 50% more is crazy & where do you start when that much difference? Some local dealers will dare you to NOT buy from them I just say Ok see ya but thought I should at least tell you straight up what the price difference is & what I'm doing. Funny sometimes the way some act. I too in business had to meet comp no big deal make more on the next deal all will balance out.

Anyone who dares you not to buy from them is a fool. With the internet I can find someone else in a heartbeat. Never puff up your chest to far in business, because someone else is in line to take your business. I am a firm believer in this economy that one must learn to eat hamburger instead of waiting around for a steak. I just happen to have learned how to eat Hamburger Helper without the hamburger to stay afloat until money starts flowing again. I can live without any extra bolt on crap for my sled, but sitting in the dark without electric or heat gets a little tough. spend wisely.

Had to read almost the entire site but did find that they support non motorized activities in the back country and REI supports them. I will call REI tomorrow for answers.

Straight from their mission:
We believe winter wildland adventurers and future generations should have sizable areas of public land on which to experience the natural sights, sounds, and winter beauty of public lands free of motorized vehicles, and that our backcountry wildlife habitat should be protected from the negative impacts of motorized intrusion such as snowmobiles. We also believe it is the mandate of federal land-management agencies to responsibly manage motorized access to these cherished assets to ensure their protection for future generations.

So they want large amounts of public land to be free of snowmobiles and they want the government to be mandated to make this happen.

This **** pisses me off because they could care less about all the visitors in the summer months. Just have a vendetta against snowmobiles. The way I see is that we'll never gain an extra acre or mile on which to use our sleds - we just lose a little every year, and anyone trying to set aside land that we can't use is the enemy. Maybe that's harsh, but that side will never be happy until we are 100% gone. As far as REI is concerned, it's difficult to find a large company that doesn't somehow support the opposition (sure you can buy klim, but gore-tex supports some of these groups as well), but we have to do the best we can to avoid supporting those who would prefer that we don't exist. Of course we also have to join MSA, Blue Ribbon Coalition, etc. and do our best to respect the areas we ride on and not create ammunition for them...
