Clocking Out

Well gang, this rat is leaving the race. Filled out my time card for the last time today, packed up my coffee cup, and turned in my ID badge – retirement city. Wasn’t going to post this but then I thought “what the heck”, for me it’s only going to happen once in a lifetime.

Have to admit it was kind of a weird feeling saying final goodbyes (it was a very close-knit group) and walking out that door for the last time. That’s when it sunk in that it’s really over.

It’s been quite a ride since the glory days at ol’ Baudette High: 1 yr in a paper mill, 4 yrs of college, 9 yrs as a junior high teacher, and 34 yrs as a software “guy” working embedded software.

The amazing thing is that my wife has stuck with me for all of those 48 years. Guess that for a long time she thought I would amount to something but now I think she just figures it’s too late to change horses.

Now I’m hoping for a little more snow time next winter, or at least a little more snow.

Congratulations on a great career Skiroule, I hope you can spend lots of time north of the border this summer. You should have a little time to work on a few vintage projects also. Maybe you can snowmobile in about ten states and a few provinces next winter also.

Good Job ! I was hired on 1-10-83 at the ripe old age of 22 and retired on 1-10-14. I walked in and retired immediately on that day and it was the best feeling ever to walk out and never walking back in. It has been a wonderful 15 months ! Congratulations and Enjoy !

Congratulations Kelly! Glad to see you stuck to your guns and didn't let them talk you into staying!

May the snow be deep and the fish plentiful. Cheers!!

That's awesome Kelly, congrats! I'm very jealous. I'm expecting more posts with all of your fishing and snowmobiling adventures and whatever will be taking up your time now. :) This will give you more time for your vintage sleds also. You are a great guy and deserve nothing but the best in retirement.

Cheers!!
