I have used polishing compound with a buffer and it did a nice job. Just don't use rubbing compound, it will make it worse!

Tried a product I bought at the Novi show called Flitz. Worked well on the headlights so I tried it on my helmet faceshield. Worked great on it as well as getting most of the scratches out.

yup, you are right. I did the same thing but started with 600 and that was a mistake. Took me a while to sand out the 600 scratches

i tried the toothpaste but you just don't get enough friction to rub the oxidation or whatever it is off by hand. ended up buying a maguires kit that came with a wool pad you connect to your drill. it was $18. 20 minutes later..looks brand new. the bottle was big enough that it will out live the life of the car. thanks for the suggestions all.

A friend of mine who runs a body shop used rubbing compound with a buffer and then clear coated them. It cost me $125.00 for both. We tried the kits and they worked, but did not last. Our car dealer promised them done for $65.00 with a quarantee and I have more faith in my body shop friend. We have a '07 Toyota Camry and have had problems with them for years.

3M makes a kit for about $25.00 that will do about 4 headlamps. Includes various grits of abrasive paper and compound. Takes off the sandblasted surface damage and brings lenses back to a very good condition. You will need a drill(cordless is nice).

I've used the Mothers kit a few times on my daughters Taurus. Works good but the more you do it they cloud up faster each time. Just bought new headlamp assemblies from Rock Auto for 36.00 each with bulbs. Much better solution. IMO

You need to wax them every month or so. I clean headlight for a living and 3 m makes the best kit I found. Of course I buy the Large kit, twenty cars or so. But wax the every month or so and the should not haze over again.

My old glass headlights never hazed over.

I have found new headlights on ebay. If yours are hazed, the kits or homemade remsdies may work but if they are rough from sand blasting from the road sand, new ones are probably the best answer.

Don't bother with your car dealer parts, they will charge a fortune.
