Crime on the rise?

Just checking in. I am afraid this summer is going to get ugly in Michigan. High unemployment and low police numbers are one reason. In Flint Michigan there have been a number of shootings in less than a week, very depressing.

Don't worry, soon it will all be plowed under and sent to the scrap yard. At least we are recyling and "saving" the earf. Now what to do about all those wandering people.....oh,
yea, send them to Canada!!

Sad to say crime is everywhere here in dekalb illinois we moved my step daughter into an apartment last sunday for her last year at northern illinois university.. Just since last sunday her door was kicked in twice once monday and again about 4 hrs ago they caught 3 of them but the forth got away.. They found some of her stuff in one of their apartments and he still denied he had anything to do with it .....What the funny part was he still had the pry bar in his waist band finger prints we taken shoe prints were found on the door... I guess the corn rows were to tight for these dumb assses to see they were caught red handed so goes the old saying "stupid is as stupid does"

Crime is everywere - even in the country, just less of it.

My uncle is a farmer and he lives absolutly in the middle of nowhere. He left his truck unlocked with the keys in it outside of his barn, and some drunk 20 yr. old crashed his car into a telephone pole on a rainy night, walked a mile, hopped into my uncles 2004 chevy 2500 hd, drove a mile the other direction and hit another telephone pole! aha kinda funny but still, crime's everywhere.

If we would start blowing people away when they steal things, or kick in doors, as they used to do a 100 years ago, this would stop faster than cement curing.

But these guys get out of jail before the paint dries on the striped pajamas they had on in there.

Some of these guys have rap sheets two feet long and they somehow get out to do it again.

They aren't stupid...we are for letting them out again. Sadly many will die because we don't have the stomach to do what needs to be done...

Don't know if I would get a chance to use a gun on an intruder cause by the time I make a choice on which to use ( thinking SKS incase there is a bunch of them w/ the 41 mag as a side arm), the Dobes would have them.

Back to the wild west. Ahhhhhhhhhhh ...........NOooooooooo............ I don't think so. You go to jail for shooting people & then you miss all that trail riding time when there is snow cause you are in court or jail . You want to shoot guns go to the range or join the Army.

If you break into my house while my family is there and the dobes don't scare you out, your leaving on a stretcher. I'd rather take my chances with a jury than be dead!

And the wife and I do go to a range and the woods and are very versed in the use of hand guns and long guns of many different calibers.

Don't mean to start a peeing match, but no one breaks into my home while I'm there that I spent a live time to acheive and threatens to take it away.

Why not just whack them up side the head with a baseball bat? When was the last time someone broke into your house & you shot them? You make it sound like you have it all thought out guns loaded ready to kill someone. If that makes you feel better I guess ok for you & yours. You must live in VERY high crime area to be on such high alert.

Because the last thing you want is to be in close enough contact with an assailant for them to be able to disarm or disable you.

Personally, I agree with lvr1000. While I don't think he (or anybody else in their right mind) looks forward to being a crime victim and possibly having to take a life, there is nothing wrong with being prepared for it, and I commend him for taking the steps to be prepared.

And yes, some of us do live in the city where violent crime is a very real possibility.

X'2 white dust! I keep an old hickory sledge hammer handle just within reach under the bed. I only had to pull it out one time to smash the side of the kids car in when they pulled up to play mailbox baseball. The next morning I set out to find the red taurus with the missing side window!!! I have multiple guns but they are never loaded just 1 buckshot load in the night stand now that the kids are out of the house.

No offense meant and not to be argumentative....but mailbox baseball is a whole different ballgame (no pun intended) from home invasion.

Sorry, but if somebody is in my house I take that to mean that they intend to do me serious harm -- and in that case, I like my chances with a .45 a whole lot better than with a bat or a sledge hammer handle.

(and so nobody worries, the only kids in the house are the 4-legged variety so the only snooping they do is in the garbage cans, not the night stand)
