Crossfire in the corners

I'm trying to improve the cornering of my Xfire 6 Sno-Pro with OEM skis. At this point in time I don't want to replace the skis. Has anyone out there tried Bergstrom tripple points? Are they as good as everyone says they are?
Thanks

your going to spend over $100 on some really good carbides, why not look into some aftermarket ski's, you have a pretty new sled and aftermarket ski's wouldn't be a bad investment.

not knowing what your sled is doing in the corners, I suspect it's pushing in the corners?? if so I would maybe try to put more down pressure on the ski's first, before spending any money. my 2 cents

Tighten the limiter strap(s) 1 hole, back off on the center spring preload a little, increase ski pressure, if it has coupler blocks on the skid ??? move them to the thickest setting to try to decrease the transfer. I agree with the above posts, try to tune it before you throw money at it. The skags are a balancing act that sometimes will require studs also. Make 1 change / adjustment at a time. I would think that sled would corner great due to it's profile. But that is a guess, I thought the 4 stroke Yami's would corner well due to all the weight also but that is not the case. Some riding patrners have a couple of those ( x-fires )and they never said a word about those not handling good in the corners ? Bergstroms are as good as they say, so are shaper bars.

well said mjkaliszak, it's all about knowing your ride, tinkering and tuning to get the best proformance.

On my 07 Crossfire, I had the push problem for the first year, then choked up the limiter straps 2" and my buddies on their short tracks can't even keep up. I run dual 8" carbides up front to prevent darting and they dig in hard for me on the corners. With this setup and little body language mixed in, this machine handles like my old late 90's ZR.

BIG SMILES all day long on the trail.

my .02 cents

start with just turning your blocks to the 111 mark facing rear arm before messing with limiter strap.

I just got an 09 Crossfire 8 Std. About 400 miles on it now. Not sure what year yours is but If possible try moving the skis outward. (Not sure if all Crossfires have adj. ski stance or if its just the new ones. If it does, you'll see about a half inch thick washer on either side of spindle where ski bolts on. these can be moved both inward/outward or one on each side to adjust stance. While the skis are off, take the rubber bumpers off and flip them around backwards. This pushes the back side of the ski down and seems to make steering effort easier, reduces darting, and in my case it corners like madd. Currently I have a half burned set of Stud Boy Deuce bars 6" carbide on them that I took off the old sled before I sold it. Dual runner carbides have never been known for cornering well and this sled corners really good. My next set will be Bergstrom triple points.

Give it a shot and give me feedback. The first day I rode this CF It rode and handled terrible. I made tons of adjustments at once (a mistake) cause now I don't know which change helped what.

Not to hijack the thread, but how is your sled doing on stutter bumps? That is my next issue to tackle, probably going to be a shock revalve on the fox zero pros. At slow speeds running over the stutter bumps, it acts as if theres no ft suspension movement at all. This weekend I was standing while going over these bumps and found that quite often I'd find my feet bouncing off the footboards maybe up to an inch. Trying it at higher speeds is no better, it's really hard to keep in control.

Does anyone know of a way to modify the footwells so that your feet can go forward a bit farther, my knees get sore from being bound and such a tight angle all day--

Oh and also for the cornering--I set the toe to about a 1/4" toe out.

My sled is a new 2006 Xfire 6. It pushes in the corners and has ski lift on acceleration coming out of the corners. I pumped up the front shocks to 75psi and adjusted the block, it helped, but I expect better. The staggered duallies that came on it from the factory are junk. They must have been made in China, they look like they have 5000 miles on them in 500 miles. Thanks Cat, you build a nice sled and then you put junk carbides on to save the company a few pennies. I think I'll try the Bergstrom Triple points.
I have a ZL 500 that corners like its on rails, so I expect the same out of the Xfire.
Thanks for your help gentlemen.

I bought the triple points this year for my fusion and they are awesome. All you need is one pair for the life of the sled. Well worth the money.

All I can say is put some SLP Powder pro skis on and you will crap yourself how good this sled rides. I own the same sled and did it. You need no other adjustments anywhere, believe me. 350 and your done. ebay the old ones and do not look back. The BIGGEST difference I have ever noticed, my wife made me put some on hers too just so you no.
