Polarice,

Its possible ur filter was the problem...but if you got spare time this summer id pull the air box, then the throttle bodies, then the boots and check them. the metal base (inside) and rubber (throttle body side) delaminate from themselves. The couple sleds we have had problems with had very minimal problems but just enough to suck extra air in and most cases take out a cylinder...not trying to scare anyone but thats my 2cents. The 06 600s had recalled boots...and the 07-? 600/700 cleanfires had the "updated" 1 piece boots that we have found this problem with. again i just gotta remember where it is but i have a torn one ill try to get some pics of

For the $50.00 it costs for the new updated boots, I'd just replace them for PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE and then you don't have to worry about it for at least 2 years.

I'm not happy about the de-laminating rubber boot issue either, and in this day and age of technology it just plain out should NOT be happening

But replacing them is the ONLY solution, so no sense in whining/debating on whether or not to spend the $50

Just get 'er dunnnn!

I've been told the updated boots aren't much better than the original ones.

I definitely agree with Kraven that it's probably something to do once in a while as a maintenance item. Mine failed and it took the engine down last season (Feb 2010). I will probably replace mine again before next season just to be safe.

Just one correction - the 06 boots weren't recalled, they were "updated." They should have been recalled. It's one thing to update a known faulty design, but I think Polaris was negligent in not recalling those boots. I tried to tell them this and you can imagine how much they care.

Yes thanks for the correction HoosierSmit...i worded it wrong. I kno us dealers got em covered under warranty at first..dont think they honor that much any more. But ya Polarice if ur has em being a '10 u "should" be ok. if it was me id check em in my free time to make sure. maybe u dont need em but it would make me all warm and fuzzy feeling when the snow flies if i knew mine were good.

Just like with POLARIS (same old) Voltage regulators that have been re-labeled with a new part #, (As shown on SnoWest) I'm starting to suspect that new improved doesn't necessarily last any longer, or may be the same friggin' part re-packaged.

How's that for cynical?

Glad someone else has gotten cynical about Polaris. I thought I was the only one :). If only they weren't so darn fun to ride!
