You probably can't even make the "off road only" claim anymore either since the EPA is putting their finger prints on all internal combustion engines. I didn't realize I move to the EU...

grrrrrrrrrrrrr I am so sick of this crap.

Did not read the article. Do you know if this aplies to programming your ecu which does not require a "tuner box"

I have a vw jetta tdi with revo technic stage 1 program. Still get the same mileage with 30 to 50 hp gain "they claim".

I wish the EPA had identification on their vehicles so I could pass them and stomp it chuggin the black smoke for their enjoyment. Yeah, I'm an idiot.

they sure as heck better not start regulating the diesel pulling motorsports! trucks, tractors, and semi's. i cant see that happening though as that would kill the entire sport!

Ah but the EPA has started regulating and now Navistar is facing fines because their heavy duty engines are not meeting standards, not only that Navistar knew they would not be there in time so they negotiated a fine and the EPA is going back on the deal. Volvo and Daimler are currently suing the EPA over the standards. Not sure if this is just the road trucks or if they set standards for tractors or other heavy equipment.

My cousin is an engineer for Deere in their diesel engine group, I sent him this article and based on his response it sounds like off road diesel does have some new emissions requirements to meet, maybe not as strong as on road, but he did mention DPF, SCR and urea injection for off road engines.

Screw them how can they try and control stuff like that. i do performance diesels and the biggest sell is chips and tuners. i would love to get in front of them with my cummins and just coal all over them. i know alot of people in the farming world that put a chip in there diesel so they pull trailers better or better mpg do they not even think about people like that

Very good point ezra.. . people think 4.00 bad for gas wait till it hits 8.00 bucks a gallon. or when you HAVE to have healthcare. I have my healthcare but i know many who choose not to and now they will! I dont think its a random coincidence that people are getting fired all around the u,s all of a sudden. Its plain and simple employers dont wanna pay for it and i can understand that i saw in the paper papa johns let go of a boat load of people.... well lets see how many pizza places do u see that offer healthcare uhhhhhhhh....... I have a co worker who owns a gun store hes already got stuff coming to him about assult rifle ban, Starts with ak-47s then ARs are next. meaning that everything he has in stock when it gets passed well hes the new owner of them. The ole famous DONT TREAD ON ME..... well there TREADING real fast say good bye to freedom. I heard even Cat stopped selling road engines. I guess it wasn't worth the trouble of trying to meet the new emission standards. Our two newest Cat powered trucks have been nothing but problems with all the pollution stuff on them.

I know the issue i work for international and there manning up and finaly trying to meet all the regulations and not lieing saying that they do.. but as a company they are looking to go all cummins in the future because cummins meets or passes everything they throw at em with flying colors. but they are worried about cost being that it will be more exspensive to have all cummins

Something related to this thread. Starting next year, you will only be able to buy a 90% furnace. Talking to some of the mfgs there is alot of talk at the EPA about wood burners. My advise to you,buy now or plan on making your own

You will still be able to heat with wood. They are going to start putting the screws to the burner mfg. They will have to be clean burning. Nothing out of the stack. This is still a few years away, but it is on the way.

Someone needs to clue the idiots at the EPA into the fact that burning wood does not add any more carbon to the atmosphere than if the tree were to die and rot in the woods all on it's own. No carbon is manufactured during the burning process, it is just released the SAME EXACT WAY it is during decomposition.

I am proud to say I heat in a carbon-neutral manner. :)
