Found a little wear in the trans .I have a lowend from a 01 yzf 426 that the gear set is pretty close and I believe it'll work I'm just waiting for my gasket kit to come to put it together.Putting new piston in it while I'm at".

Sounds like you really know your stuff reiley!

I wanted to ask any 2 wheelers out there if they have ever been to Bass Lake or Porterfield single trak trails?

I have ridden both a few times. Bass Lake is a blast but get it done early in the year if you can. Once the leaves get large your sight lines get pretty narrow! Porterfield has a few more options and they have added some new sections over the last few years. Some is a blast pounding it out in 3rd and some is 1st and feather the clutch to get between the trees! We have found that if we are traveling that far to ride just one day we hit the Sands. This is where they hold the Loose Moose National Enduro. Loads of options and more singletrack than you can shake a stick at. Hang out in the Gwinn area for a few days riding and throwing Bass Lake in the mix is a must.

Was thinking of riding Loose Moose this year and hopefully the one in Stone Lake. Thanks for good info, will def. hit Bass Lake this year.

We have done the Moose twice,It's a tough one.As far as rding in that area I was of the understanding that the event was mostly on private property and riding outside the event was non-existant.Am I missing something here?

The area I have ridden is a legal riding area and very popular. On the south end is some private and the entrances are gated. Lots of great riding that is legal! I am sure the race is tough. Heck some of the single track is crazy tight or very technical. An exhausting area to ride at race pace!

Ok, you guys just suck!!! A few months ago I walked away from a bad *** RM250 . I didn't think I could find anyone to ride with? To think, all this time,I've been saving money for sleds?

The search is on. Time to find another bike. I always wanted a TR200. Try to talk me out of a TR200 for the UP.

Ya thinking TW200? Fun to explore with but would be tough to hang with full in MX or Enduro's pounding out a. loop at Baraga plains!

Suspension would beat you to death if you tried to keep a good pace.If you want good gas mileage I'd go with a 4 stroke. The newer 250 fourstrokes have plenty of power. If you go 2stroke be prepared to buy a aftermarket bigger tank. I like my kdx 200 (2stroke) great woods bike I get 60-70 miles per tank if I behave myself most of the time.I've always been a kawasaki fan the newer klx are nice bikes. The yamaha wr250f or the 450 models are pretty nice too I've heard never rode one but I think they'd be a fine trail bike.

Can never go wrong with the kdx.The 220 is my favorite, bullet proof from the day I brought it home.Just make sure if find a 220 that the stock piston has been changed out for a weisco_OEM has a habit of breaking the skirt and destroying bottom ends. For more info on the kdx check out kdxrider.net lots of good info and people on there.

I've got a 2003 KLX 400 that I would like to sell, just don't ride it.
It was mostly a commuter bike around 6,000 miles, needs tires.
I'll try to get some pics, but as I've said before, not techy, so.

p.m. me if interested.

I wonder the power differences between the 200 and the 220? I've been thinking this yz250 I have when I get it back together seeing if I can trade it for another kdx because I like them so much. Plus my son is out growing his ttr 125 and hes been stealing the kdx out of the garage and riding that instead of his.LOL

I have heard before that the 200 was faster then the 220, dont know if thats true at all. Woodtic i would look for a WR250 instead of the tw. KDX is also great and one can find them pretty cheap. ($1500).

The 220 actually has a better low end than a 200.I think the 200 is faster overall. Both are great bikes for woods riding.neither are suited for moto cross,

I didn't pick up the rm250 because of fuel range. I ride with a kid with a yz250 and gas is always an issue . I don't think I'm going to add another bike this year, unless it's a smoking deal. I really want to pick up another long track. I can make due with the Summer toys I have.

I agree that the KDX is a sweet ride for rippin up the woods and can be had for a decent price. It's only draw back would really be the forks. Now the KLX that onlypolarforme has would be a great combo bike as it is the same as a DRZ400 and is street legal. It is a bit heavy for technical singletrack or some of the sandpits but they love to log forest road miles and take to simple mods very well. Remember that the license plate gets you the ability to travel the Ottawa National Forest. A huge plus in my books. I have a WR450 and CRF250X both with plates! Way to much fun!

I agree 100% about the plate thing. I see more enduros out in the woods because of the goofy restrictions. A lot of BMWs in the Ottawa ,after pricing out a few,I won't be on one any time soon. One of my customers said he is buying some new BMW liquid cooled enduro to take to Alaska. 25 K yikes!

I like to keep gas stops within 60 miles really hasnt been an issue for me since i only ran out of gas 1 time in the 7 years riding in the U.P.
2 gallons gets 60 miles pretty good deal if ya ask me. We do alot of trail riding between white pine and rockland but also like tight woods bar bangin stuff mainly, some of our best rides are less then 50 miles. Them rides when you get home and you have perma-grin for days after! Man i cant wait to ride.
