Do sled manufactures offer a studded track option?

Can you get a studded track from Polaris or other manufacture already on the sled or is this just a dealer item? Also why if not?

I've never seen it as an option.

I would assume it has to due with maintenance issues. If studs were a factory option and and one pulls free and you take out a heat exchanger while still under warranty, who's responsible?

I think studs would cause many more headaches and losses ($$$) for manufacturers than profit they could make.

Pre-studded like an iceripper may be option from Yamaha in 2012 as they did a survey asking if we wanted this option so will wait & see. I like the idea.

X'2 I would think there would be alot of warranty nightmares but the ice ripper would be an option that would not come along with the grief. To me a track could easily be deemed as a wear item.

The big question is !

Anyone ever thought of the stud suppliers - manufacturers that would have one less way of putting their hands in our pockets? Maybe they too have deep pocketed lobbiest up on capitol hill like the oil barrons have to keep the enviromental guys from nipping at their stock options. But that is just my REBEL point of view.

I don't know the CAT dealer , but our buds from indiana do a Ice ripper - track swap when they buy new ones. I would assume that a deal could be struck with some cash for labor and price difference if that is what your after.

a lot of new sleds ARE being sold with them. He's trying to say Powermadd has been trying to make oem not allowed to sell sleds with handguards.

Doo and Yammi have both been selling sleds with handguards for years. Whether they are Powermad or not I don't know. This falls under Who Knows, Who Cares and What Difference Does It Make?

It will be a cold day in Lambeau before ANY factory sells anyone a new sled with studs. The general public is incredibly stupid and sue happy to boot. Won't happen. Liability, safety, environmental, migratory bird patterns, worldwide carbide shortages - forget it.

That is what I was thinkin. It is amazing how many people lack the skills to just do the basic upkeep on a sled. I have alot of fun learning new things every day and the seasoned riders on this site are very helpful. This can be a very expensive sport if you lack the ability to do the basics, not to mention dangerous.
