Does anyone where a protective vest?

Yeah I might have to do that next year if I can't get one ahead of time. Good job for the original poster to bring this up again. Easy to put it again if I don't think about it. 3 kids at home 5 and under makes you think a little sometimes...

If it helps any I wear a Tekvest super sport. I am 6'3 195 and wear a large vest under a large klim klimate jacket.

Seems to me Klim XL would fit most people plenty of adjustment. I went with XL sixsixone core protecter with spine protection & wrap my back thing around that. Core protecters breath which was important to me every year except this year & -30F riding. :)

I wear one while trail riding and off trail. Does this make me "Ricky Bobby". I also stand up with a back and shovel. You always have to be on the look out for a roof that needs to be shoveled off.lol

That's funny..... you just never know

My wife bought one for me about 3 yrs ago and I wear it all the time. Just a couple weeks ago I hit a rock on a river and almost went over the front but instead jammed my throttle block into my chest. Large bruise and very sore, can't imagine what it would have been like without the vest. Most of my friends now wear them also.

I probably should take my own advice. My boys have to wear one all the time, all year long. On the sleds or 4 wheeler. Maybe the old man needs one too.

Not Ricky if you don't have the Mohawk!

Just about spit my diet coke out on that roof line :)

I wear one all the time do, they do add a lot of warmth, When the boys started riding I made them get one just in case, We were out riding a few weeks ago and stopped to eat as we were getting dressed to leave guy at table next to us asked why we were wearing life vests, explained to him what they were, kinda felt like Marty Mcfly from Back to the Future

Some of the tight wads (no names mentioned) should at least wrap themselves in bubble wrap. Lol
I have taken some serious branch hits to the chest. The vests work.

Been riding for 30+ years. Bought a Klim Tek Vest 5 years ago after a close call with someone on my side of the trail near Paradise. Purchased it that day at the gas station across from the Yukon Inn. Where it outside my jacket. Ride on trail and off and now I don't leave home without it.

I use the EVS SV1... About half the price of the Tec Vest Super Sport. Not quite the fit and finish of the Teck Vest, but works s very well and is comfortable. Feel like I am missing something with out it plus adds extra layer of warmth

For those curious about sizing for the TekVest brand vests, the Tekrider site has a chart which seems to be fairly accurate. You can also see the different models available.

I was surprised to read some of the responses, for those who choose not to wear one for whatever reason, and those who do.

I personally wear mine every time I ride, never had to test it & hope I never do.

I didn't need one until I cracked 3 ribs out west on mountain climb and tumble- could not ride the rest of the trip - got a vest-

I also purchased one through the john dee discount promotion they had several years ago. I love it. Only 3 out of our 8 wear one. It has helped me several times. I hit a stump this yer and hit my chest against handlebars. I was sore from it but nothing major. Like said before. its not always the ribs but theres some pretty important organs in there you need to protect.

protection

This year I started racing some a mature snocross, so I bought a cheap MX chest protector at haydays I also bought Thor force knee/shin guards and an atlas neck brace. Total investment = under $300. 2nd race of the year I landed short on a triple landed hard, got thrown over the bars and ran over by my own sled. I ended up compression fracturing my L3 40%. Not a good deal. Pretty close to death. I know for a fact that if I didn't have my neck brace on the outcome may have not been so good, as I lawn darted headfirst into the next jump. I am upgrading to a Tek vest this offseason after seeing how superior they are. All in all, a worthy investment. Even if I never race again (which I will) I feel naked and vulnerable without all my gear on now, whether trail riding or ditch banging. Is it over the top? Maybe, but if it helps just once it was worth every $ and minute putting it on.

I've been wearing one for about 4 years now. I feel uncomfortable without it on when I am riding. It did save my shoulder a few years ago when I hit a dry patch of pavement and rolled my sled.

The one thing I have a hard time understanding in this entire discussion is the negativity toward vest wearers by those who don't. Why should you care if we choose to wear one? It's not like we're trying to force it on you.
