I'm an avid sledder, and like to ride as much as anybody. With that being said, I couldn't agree wit the picture more. It's time for it to end already. Any snow that comes this late in the year is useless.

Tough to do but all you can do is wait it out. Rhinelander NBC said if we don't break 50F by April 15th we will set an all time record for latest 1st 50F day. Right now looks good to break that record. Talking to my Marina buds still 3 feet of ice on 3 lakes & Eagle River Chain same on smaller lakes they are pulling their hair out can't get anything done I always have seen ice break by April 18th or so on Spectacle Lake but thinking we won't see ice-out until May could be fishing ice flows for opener.:(

Ready for winter to end any minute now. This late in the year and the temps below average and lots of snow still on the ground is a setup for flooding issues. All of the sudden it could "warm up" to average (upper 40's and low 50's by next week) and the snow will melt in a real hurry and the water will have no place to go.

This may not be of much concern to folks that don't live here, but for us folks who do it can be a real problm.

Agree when it warms up &/or rains we are going to be moving tons of water into rivers & lakes & there will be flooding. The Mississippi River needs snow run off badly to get river shipping moving again.

I'm ecstatic that I will be in the UP this weekend snowmobiling in Mid-April. But, do see the issues this is causing locally for many. I hope the melt starts soon and is slow steady one. On the plus side many observations in the past few years of low lake levels, etc.. This year should help that problem.

In Vilas if your have a watershed only lake lake then you have been suffering. If you have spring supply as well as drainage lake levels not so bad last Fall. Inland lake levels in Vilas should start off at high or normal levels but it all depends on what happens this summer to where levels end up in Fall.

I understand the flooding problem, but my fire insurance has gone through the roof ,with all of the forest fires up there. As Mr Dee likes to say,Mother nature always has a way of catching up.

Spring flooding could still mean a high fire risk. Flooding means that a lot of the moisture has run off leaving the ground dry. Also the our fire season is usually when the ground is still saturated but the stuff on top is dry and has yet to green up.

Good point, but where my camp is,Sidnaw,a lot of dried up swamps, lakes 3 feet down ect... This area could use some run off. I'm sure there are other areas that will suffer.

With my early rides around home in Dane County and up to Houghton, and a month of riding up at the cottage in Boulder Jct., I need the time to replenish the funds before the lakes open. During the winter I don't think that I was home longer than 5 or 6 days at a time. Now it's time to re-focus.
