EUP report!

What a wild 36 hours! Left my house at 5am Saturday morning on what was supposed to be a 4.25 hr drive to our launch point halfway between Seney and Grand Marais. After getting stuck behind multiple snowplows and dealing with crap roads it turned into 5.5 hours. Plan was to head up towards GM and then over to pine stump for lunch. After some miscommunication in my group not all having full sleds, we had to stop in GM for fuel. 4-8” was forecasted, with the hour to hour showing nonstop snow and the radar showed pure snow over the entire EUP. Well, it was 26 degrees when we unloaded and was pure rain… all day…by the time we got to GM for fuel, the non Klim wearers were soaked, so instead of heading to pine stump, we took some loops in the crazy 8s and headed back after 65 miles. The trails held up surprisingly fine in the freezing rain and other than constantly wiping shields and dealing with crunchy gear, it wasn’t the worst. Rain ended around 3-4pm. We Went and checked into our hotel in Wetmore and dried off a little before going for a 25 mile night cruise. The trails leaving wetmore to the grade, and the grade to the bear trap trail, were both GOD AWFUL. The grade was great though. There is a massive water hole just east of the bear trap, we did not test it out but I hear it’s impassable and massive. This morning we trailered to the Kingston plains, and did a 30 miles loop along Lake Superior and back on trail 8. These trails were in fairly good shape, are very fun to ride, and held up without any overnight grooming, as all clubs were on pause with temps in the low 30s. All in all, plenty of snow, no bare spots where we rode, trails held up thru the freezing rain Saturday and held up great today, they just have to get thru tomorrow and it’s back to winter mode up there. Not the best trip I’ve ever taken, but glad we got to get in some throttle therapy! IMG_8982.jpeg IMG_8983.jpeg IMG_9007.jpeg IMG_8992.jpeg IMG_8998.jpeg

Yeah, don’t think I would of tried that one unless it was good enough to skip through it.

Can definitely take H58/Melstrand rd to get around it. Might be why they left so much snow on the road and make it very difficult to drive on to get to the Kingston plains lot

Got another heavy/wet unexpected 4" last night to the West. Harvey to Gwinn area. Turned to light rain already this am, but should be better once we get through today.

We were also surprised by the amount of rain on Saturday at our place south of Tahquamenon Falls. My twin 4 years olds were able to get some riding around the cabin in on their 120's but the rain in the afternoon put a damper on things.

Indy, how do you like the blizzard package compared to the adrenaline. I think those are the same front clickers found on the XRS models right?

Yes same clickers. I do feel it was a huge improvement over my adrenaline, but it’s hard to say for certain how huge since i don’t have one side by side to compare.

easy on the trail beer , leave that for the old guys
Funny you say that, on that little night ride, we came across 3 different groups of old guys sitting trail side in the dark sipping on cold ones watching the moon and stars.

I just took the beer 200 yards to the hotel 😂

Im itching to get the XRS out so I can dial in the clickers. Had float air shocks on my viper and adjustment was pretty limited with that.
