Governor Evers wants all private establishment signs removed from snowmobile,ATV trails you know those nice brown metal signs that have been up for 50 years. Evers says those signs are on state land without permission. Imo this is stupid and dangerous and will kill business that depends on trail riders.

Just another stupid move to destroy more small businesses. The tavern league is recommending everyone to ignore his limited capacity mandate, as most sheriff departments aren’t enforcing it anyways. Just this morons way of retaliation. The guy needs to go.

Ya everytime I think about how stupid the MN governor is I just pause and think about how bad WI and MI have it. That trail sign story I read last night and almost spit my hotdish out saying ARE YOU FN KIDDING ME!! Those signs have been there for 50-60 years. The all out assault on small business' is horrible. Wish I could sign the recall petition!!!

Well said Indy. There is a recall petition for Evers so he knows he’s out just a matter of time and money. BUT to punish small business and the trail riding public is mean spirited and will help cement his removal from office. I’m still not confident Whitmer will allow snowmobiling in MI just like she prohibited boating in the Spring due to Covid. It’s worrisome what theses politicians do saying they are protecting us from Covid. Whitmer is more believable than Evers. Evers actions are about revenge no other reasonable answer for sign removal.

Just out of curiosity, does the Corona virus live in 10 below temps?? Or say zero for that matter? Understand the bars might pose a problem but riding outside in winter.......not seeing the threat but could be wrong

I passed around a recall sheet at work a few weeks ago and sent them in. Wasn’t a single person I could find that didn’t want to sign it. Looking at it from an unbiased point of view I can’t pick out one positive thing that’s come of his time in office. His mishandling of Kenosha was very disheartening and I feel for the people who had their homes and businesses destroyed from riots.

Its no surprise they pull this out of their axxes this year - I hope the clubs and small business owners just ignore it. Anyone working for the DNR over there should do the same.

We've been told in MN there are no changes coming down the crack pipe from the DNR to anything concerning snowmobile season... This year.

The State DNR, told all the clubs to remove signs two years ago. Forest Service has removed signs four years ago, there reasoning was to keep the forest natural. In both cases they turned a blind eye to the thought of providing directions to local services. Obviously they don't understand Tourism!

Not to say we here in MN. don't do a good job on our trails but that is one thing about WI. I have kinda been jealous of. They have always had great signage as to mileage to and directions to the next establishment. We have been catching up with our little blue signs with mileage to, but not naming those places. It seems that if the name of the place is on a map and you look at a sign with that name on it the way to it seems MUCH more clear. Besides how are the hunters going to site in their rifles?????

There is a law from 1964 that states no signs for private businesses can be on state land? Ok does that mean all signs on the side of highways must be removed? Makes about as much sense as removing Bridge Ahead signs.

Upside is there is very little "state-owned" land in WI, so not much where the signs would have to come down. Note that I've not read the order or recommendation to see if it only applies to State land.

Funny to see everyone pissing and moaning about the blue governors, elections have consequences

and honestly I am starting to get worried about this one

I cant believe with all the other BS going on in this state that we would even have a moment to dwell on something so frivolous, just blows my mind!! hopefully and I mean HOPEFULLY this moron is one and done!!

So, how does that work? We have State Trails (funded) on private land. If you're in a State Forest it's all state, but on private land how far from the trail is signage permissible? Are they telling us we can't put signs up on our own property?

The law in question only applies to state-owned land. Not that they (he) can't spin it to mean something more.

These signs only need to be removed on state owned land. But, I wouldn't worry about it. The DNR should have more important things to do than worry about a few signs. If our club's trails crossed any state land I don't think we would take any down. If the DNR is out checking to see if a few signs are not right, they have their priorities messed up. Nothing should change, leave the signs up and wait to see if they say anything.

Part of the charm in some of these areas is the establishments. Sometimes you have to ride a area a few times before you even find some of the places, even with signs. I bet if these signs were on say a dedicated bike trail they would not be worried. What is wrong with just leaving things alone?
