Everybody says to go long

Guess I should've listened LOL

I made this run twice before this, decided to pick the line with a big drift in it, sled decided to aim off to the right of the drift. sled impressed the crap out of me this weekend even with a 1" w/96 studs except for the fact I returned with 2 less belts and a cracked belly pan. My 500 edge felt useless offtrail compared to this.

offtrail, it was the deepest I ever seen it and felt pretty invincable before this mishap. Maybe i'm a newb but 155 in the UP seems like overkill to me.

Indy, it all depends on what one is doing when one is off trail. I climbed a spot yesterday that I can gaurantee that anything less than a 144 would have been buried. Little stuff like you have pictured, and logging road riding, does not require a 155. Here is a pic from Friday, 3 153" stuck, and my 155" stuck, all 800's. Anytime you think you can do this with your 121, let me know. :p

Me too until last year & 20"+ late snowfall then bad stuck in my yard in 4 foot drift this month changes all that. Digging out SUCKS & I avoid it as I don't buy many belts for Attak but stuck can burn them quickly with high RPMS. I would not ride 155 on trail & tall lugs wear fast with trail miles I like 1.25 best with studs down center but a trail track. I ride plenty of unplowed Frs but know hard pack down there somewhere off trail in powpow good luck all soft stuff with trail sled.:)

Skylar, when are going to learn, that hill is always going to defeat you guys! Lol :D

Wrong hill Randy, it has been 4 years since the last time I was here, it takes a lot of snow to cover all the stumps up in this area.

holy deep snow. I bet that was a blast. Those couple of stucks will make a non believer become a believer when you talk about "rolling a sled" out of a hole.

I love the looks of that.

I hope it was a blast.

I've never been in stuff that deep in the UP. That's deep I feel the same way as Indy I wont go over 144 but like I said never been in deep like that.

Not sure why a 3,000 mile/year guy like you would go very long. If you're cracking belly pans, it probably isn't that deep. Just kidding. I see cheap skid plates on ebay for IQ's all the time...

A guy has to try stuff to know limitations of his skills & his sled. Probably not the last lesson for Indy so very young & should try stuff while young.lol:)

For me it doesn't matter because I can't find any spots like that LOL.

Here's one you guys will LOVE!

So I'm coming out of the woods onto trail 3 a couple miles south of Twin Lakes and we're on a slight bend. My trench-master buddy on his firecat (13.5 wide track, digs trenches like crazy) got stuck trying to come back up onto the trail I pulled on his ski on got him up onto the trail in 20 seconds, was an easy one. Well as I'm pulling him up a triple triple SRX 700 Yami comes rolling up, I can see why he was kinda ticked, we were on a slight bend and he had to put on the hammer but there was nothing we could do. Gets off his sled as my other buddies are down the trail already, I was walking back to mine, he comes up to me and says don't you guys know your not supposed to leave the groomed trail, its a $500 fine if you leave the groomed trail anywhere in michigan and i asked why and all he said was do you want me to call someone, because you will get a ticket right now if need be.

Not sure what someone put in that guys coffee that morning?

Well, it seems you guys get stuck in the same spot on every hill you guys climb! Lol hahaha

I told ya! 144 is the way to go, it's in general an all-purpose length, especially for here. BTW, that is a representation of "normal" depth for the Keweenaw, something we haven't seen in a while.-Mezz

Tell him to get back into his Subaru and take his idiotic, made up rules back to Illinois. I HATE people that come up here and try to make up tons of rules because "they are better than everyone." Its everyones damn woods!

And after riding side by side with a 144x2" and a 121 sled - the 144 can go places the 121 can never even dream of! they float so well you can put over deep snow and not get stuck. A 121 will just trench. Theres no comparison. After riding a season on a 144 I will probably jump to a 155 when I'm ready to buy a sled in 2 years. I like having the confidence that my machine will take me anywhere I want to go.
