Extending Fusion to 136 or 144...what is involved?

This may have been asked before (I may have even asked it), but the board is slow right now, so here it is: the track on my Fusion 600 was showing some wear this past season. The sled is in storage, but I need to take a good look at it and see if I think it's got some life left. If not, I'm thinking about extending the sled to a 136 or 144...what is involved with this beyond the track and extended rail kit, both of which look to be able to be purchased from tracksusa.com....do you have to change gearing? Is it difficult to get the suspension dialed in after the sled is extended? Any other headaches? Would I be better off just selling it and buying a crossover?

The sled has 4500 miles on it, but the engine of the sled was completely rebuilt about 1200 miles ago by a Polaris mechanic, so I'm thinking it's worth more to me than I would get by selling it. Because of this, I'm thinking about holding on to it for awhile, and I thought extending it might make it a more versatile machine and "new" to me....

Tunnel and rail extension, and of course the longer track is all that's REALLY needed. It would be a good idea to drop a tooth on the top gear for 136", if you want to go to 144", i would suggest going down 1 tooth on the top and going up 1 on the bottom. You can't ride in minimal snow conditions, as a longer heat exchanger is recommended with the longer track, but not necessary. I would stick with tracksusa rail extensions also, I think the SLP ones look WHACKO...

I dont think the 121 to 136 makes a diff on cooling it is if you go from a trail track like a 1 1/4 or smaller to a 2in or so.but that is also no biggy I have a M1000 153 2 1/4 with a tinny cooler and ride hard pack around the house a few times a yr and as long as scrachers are down non issue.
once you go 136 you will kick your self for dinking around with 121 for so long.better in the bumps better tracking with no more squirly rear end.better hook up off the line.win win win
some times better and cheeper to find a good set of used rails.snowest is a good place to look for parts.
hay indy been on snow west some one selling a skid and track from a rush cheep think with some welding and tweeking you can have a real frankinstine edge this winter.

Thanks...just throwing the idea around. I think if I went to the longer track, I would want to go to a little longer lug also. Maybe a 1.75 or 1.5. I think a 2" might be a little too much for some of the trails where I spend a lot of time (Northeast WI). Just throwing ideas around for now. I don't want to put too much into this sled, but if I have to do a track anyway....kind of thinking about doing this and that Holtz jetting compensator thing that Kraven was talking about...

I won't do anything until Sept/Oct, but always thinking about it now anyway!

2 seasons ago I bought the extension kit from tracksusa for my 02 edge and it was the best money I have ever spent on my sled. I went from a 121" to a 144. I'm in the southern tip of the UP and ride alot of hard pack and have yet to over heat my sled I have an 1 1/4 ripsaw on it. It made my ride a **** of alot better you seam to just glide over those dips that everyone else is punding themselves to get through. You follow the directions that come with the kit and you should have everything back together in less than 2 hours.
