Faith In Snow

Everyone is upset about the lack of snow since the middle of January for the Western U.P. and, Northern Wisconsin. However, I have spent more time in Ironwood than Chicago this winter. The trails are still "holding their own." The roads are bare along with the parking lots and, even bare on the trail in Hurley along Silver Street. But, for the last couple days we keep getting snow dustings so, we are not "totally losing." John Dee's forecast for next week holds promise and, you have to love Tom's comments from the Bergland Bay Bar. On Monday, we trailered from Ironwood to Lake Gogebic and the lake was fine along with the trails around it. Yes, trails could be better. But, the main point is they "are holding their own." Unlike last year at this time when the season ended suddenly with 70 degree temperatures around Valentines Day in Ironwood, that has not occured this year. I have faith we will have sled riding thru the middle of March this year. So, please although we are all sad, disappointed, discouraged even angry let us hold out Faith. My sleds are standing by in Ironwood and, I hope to take a ride tomorrow. Again, the best evidence that we will still get some good snow and riding is because the trails are "holding their own." I just want to "preach a word of Faith instead of my typical complaint of lack of snow.....":p:D

I hear ya Hegewisch, but do you really want me and a few thousand of my close personal snowmobile buddies to come up and wear out the few spots that still have ridable snow? :D

LOL. I would agree it will be better in 10 days to come up. But, the small business people need you. And, I know poeople will come regardless because when you plan on "vacation time off" etc. You have to use it.

I will be coming up, although I do not plan on bringing a couple thousand of my friends. Thinking more like 5! LOL We are also hedging like you, there have been 2 terrible snowless Marches in a row for the Hurley area. We are thinking chances are 3 will not be happening! Hoping to close down the trail system on the 31st! Heres to wishful thinking!

Well, Snow has been Coming Down For A Few Days In Ironwood. Tonight and Tomorrow We could Get Up To 12" And, More In Next Few Days. So, Come On...Time For March Sledding 2012 !!! Still Not Alot Of People Up Yet. Saturday Night My Son-in-Law and I Passed NO ONE From Hurley to Mercer and back. Sunday We Went From Ironwood-Marenisco-Lake Gogebic-Bergland and back. Hardly Anyone. In Fact, We Were ONLY People In Bergland Bay bar. From Hoop Holler Back To Ironwood On Trails 8 and 2 We Passed No One. Alot Of The Business Owners Think Everyone Is Coming This Coming weekend, Or, They Have Used Their Vacation Time and Can't Come Up Anymore.
