Okay, for those who can get to go when it happens, let's get a secondary guessing day WHEN the big dump is coming so that all those guys who put the sleds away will have to live the dream from those guys who didn't mothball the sled and kept the faith and post pictures so everyone else can cry in their tea.....

John....a little background on April snow storms that produced ridable snow....yeah, I know how busy you are....just crack that calendar of records....

Since I started this....I will refrain from posting the first date....but it's GOING to happen....just don't know when....

Nope, not gonna happen this year. Sure, we'll see a couple 2" "storms", but that's gonna be it....that's my prediction. :p

Read this thread a half hour ago, and now I got a weather warning in my browser

...WINTER STORM EXPECTED TO AFFECT THE REGION LATE MONDAY NIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY...

A POTENT WINTER STORM IS EXPECTED TO MOVE FROM THE CENTRAL AND NORTHERN PLAINS MONDAY NIGHT...INTO NORTHERN ILLINOIS BY WEDNESDAY MORNING. AT THIS TIME...A MIX OF RAIN AND SNOW IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP ACROSS CENTRAL WISCONSIN LATE MONDAY NIGHT AND THEN SPREAD ACROSS MUCH OF NORTHEAST WISCONSIN ON TUESDAY. THE SNOW WILL THEN BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES TUESDAY NIGHT. THE SNOW WILL ALSO BE MIXED WITH SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN. TRAVEL WILL BECOME EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS TUESDAY NIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY.

THIS SYSTEM COULD BRING A BAND OF HEAVY WET SNOW OF 6 INCHES OR GREATER TO PORTIONS OF CENTRAL...NORTH CENTRAL AND NORTHEAST WISCONSIN BY WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. THERE IS STILL A GREAT DEAL OF UNCERTAINTY IN HOW MUCH WARM AIR WILL WORK INTO CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN WISCONSIN WITH THE STORM. THE AMOUNT OF WARM AIR THAT WORKS INTO THE REGION WILL SIGNIFICANTLY IMPACT PRECIPITATION TYPES AND COULD REDUCE SNOWFALL AMOUNTS IN SOME AREAS...ESPECIALLY SOUTH OF A MERRILL TO STURGEON BAY LINE.

Glad my sled is still on the trailer ready to go :D

Zone Forecast Discussion mentions 12 inches plus for the southern counties of the UP with an inch or more of QPF, says last several runs of the models have been consistent. I can't wait for John's forecast tomorrow, just keep cleaning those summer toys people, every little bit helps!

we've got a blizzard warning for the north shore on Tue/Wed. 8+" maybe. Already planned to go riding this weekend, this will just make it better!

Ill pick March 22/23 for a good dump on BJ area and another good ride * ALTHOUGH SNOW COULD DEVELOP LATE MONDAY NIGHT OR TUESDAY MORNING...THE SIGNIFICANT SNOWS SHOULD FALL TUESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING.

* ACCUMULATIONS OF 8 TO 16 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE BY WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.

I figure with this latest forecast we'll be riding into April for sure. I already was planning to go the next 2 weekends up the shore, maybe we'll have to make that the next 3.

2 bad things I see with this storm, one Vilas county closed the trails on March 17th and once closed they will not open again till next year so no riding here. Second I looked at the Michigan Snowmobile Association site and this is what they had to say

"Snowmobile trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor are officially open until April 1, but groomers have been packed up and put away for the season. Riders may continue using the trails in the woods until then, as long as the snow holds out, but should watch for bare areas and water on the trails.

Keweenaw Trails Services would like to thank everyone, especially our groomer operators, for a great snowmobile season. The work on the trails system will continue over the summer and fall, as we look forward to opening the trails again on December "

I would think the Superior Snowmobile Club (Twin Lakes) would make a few passes if they get some heavy system snow.

Trails are still open in our area. Officially won't close til April 1st. Not much on the trails now, 8 inches will help. Not sure if Hubby will be grooming, haven't heard from the Groomer Cooridinator. Hope this storm doesn't miss us. Temps are suppose to hold just below freezing til the end of the week. You can check my trail report on Snowtracks.com I updated daily. I's sure you all can find a place to stay!

Vilas I'am sure wont reopen, but no ordances that I can find says that you cant ride on them when they are closed!Besides there hundreds of lakes and swamps to ride besides the trails anyway in Vilas County !!

come on March Bleezard ! one more ride for a short season is great !! Lots of UP Michigan is closed cause of Eagles nesting !!
