Well, it's all about supply and DEMAND. You wouldn't hear it on the radio if there wasn't demand for it (just go look above at how many people posted similar lists as mine). Oh, and I'm 21 years old, have been exposed to a fair share of newer music, but still keep coming back to the classics. In my mind, a lot of these bands (and others from that time) completely revolutionized popular music, and I really do not find much since them to be of interest. Why spend time with imitations when you still have the originals available to you?

Imitations straight out rip offs id more like it.cant listen to top 40 for more than 10min with out hearing a straight rip off hook from a song from 50's 60's 70's ore worse the whole song with some talentless yahoo just making up a few new lyrics and then yelling his own name and yelling yeaaa yeeahhaa a few times.
or straight out ripping off old southern rock tunes mixing some white trash and wigger looks tossing in the name of your home town a few times. really kinda sad what passes for a talented artist now days
don't get me started on the but they can dance lip sync talentless (unless u count the casting couch) whores .

#1 Rush, #2 Queensryche #3 Testament are probaly my top three. (Hillsong too sometimes) I'm in a working rock and roll band that plays nealy all the artist's listed, (except for John's, no offence, lol ) We have nearly 90 songs that we can play. ...........Poisen is a big hit when the place is packed! The girls love those dancable rock tunes like unskinny bop, jessie's girl, any way you want it, what i like about you and on. ...We adjust our set list on the spot, if the crowd seems older then we do more classic rock. If they are younger we do newer stuff..Played in Hurley last night and man there were a lot of sleds parked on the lower block......If anybody in the Northwoods wants a good rock band for a party or whatever let me know.

Wow! The great thing about this thread is all the really good names that I've forgotten about. I'm going to have to load up the I-Pod with some of these before my next trip up!

You do realize that list was in jest right? I actually had to google some of the names to make sure I spelled them correctly. Or at least that is the story I am sticking to!

I actually was starting to compile the list, but I have quite a diverse liking in music. One kind for kicking back (Buffett, Alan Jackson, Willie Nelson, Big Vin, etc..) One for the opposite (Violent Femmes, Ramones, Old Van Halen, Fred Bear by Ted Nugent, etc...) and pretty much all the rest (except those along the line of my spoof list and most of the hip-hop) for the rest of the time.

Hey Grub!
I think THAT's the band my daughter listens to!

Good one Vin!

John, I thought that your list may be a joke. I didn't want to offend you, so I kept my thoughts to myself, just incase it was true. After spending a couple weekends with you I didn't think that was the music to your liking. Your latest post makes alot more sense to me. Thanks!

Oh man, that's funny and thank you and anyone else that held their tongue in fear of offending me. The artists on my spoof list have certainly been popular with a group of our population, but not me. Just not my thing!
