Ok, got it. Still makes no sense. Is there an old saying or reason for this title ? Took me awhile to figure out the ol Troll thing.

I was serious with my question. Kind of a TTT question.

The term is believed to have originated in the early 80's at the IL / WI border. It relates to a time when WI drinking age was 18 and IL was 21. The stateline and backroads were littered with alcohol related accidents. Not to mention the bar shenanigans.....

I first heard the term used by a cousin of mine who lives in SW Michigan, in reference to the large seasonal population of Illinois folks in that area of the state. (Actually, I believe the term he used was "FIP", with the "P" for "person"). But the general idea is the same....

We used to take the drive over the border in high school to go drinking in Wisconsin in the late 80's every weekend.

I'm from Green Bay and if you are on I-43 doing 75 on a Friday afternoon you will be pushed by any type of automobile to go faster. Semi's, motorcycles, cars etc. When they pass you (and no matter how fast you go they will) there license is always land of lincoln. I think for us it is because Door County used to be nice but now its a vacation spot for Illinois residents with nothing but expensive shops.

On a related note, a college buddy of mine from lower Michigan moved to Illinois after graduation. He refused to change his license plates to Illinois because of the image it presents to people. Funniest thing I ever heard.

I'm originally from the East Coast and was always told that Midwesterners are nice and polite. I moved to the land of FIBs and realize that most FIBs are impatient and inconsiderate. I tell everyone I'm not a FIB but live amongst them LOL.
