I have a cousin that lives in FIB land and for years when he and his buddies would come up to ride everyone would refer to them, to their faces as the FIB's. Finallly after about 3 or 4 years one of the guys in the group asked what it meant and I told them Fine Illinois Businessman.

The sad part was I rally think they believed me!!

All I can say is the bears still suck!!!!

FIB is fair enough. How would you feel if out of towners came all winter and ripped the trails up. Or should I say beat them to dirt. Those damn Illinois boys.

as a 5+ year Yooper, when I get to ANY city it is hard to believe how we used to function in the madness. Green Bay, Grand Rapids MI, Duluth, Vegas, DC, Miami, you name it....a large majority of peeps drive like today is their last day on the planet.

Even if you live there and it is a part of normal life for you, take a couple minutes today and watch the cars swerving in and out of lanes, running red lights, going way over the speed limit. I bet it is more than 50% of the drivers out there. Funny thing is you usually sit next to the crazy person at the next light or traffic jam-up.

If a FIB has moved from IL. How long do they remain A FIB?

First off Bluff, there is no such thing as a 5+ year Yooper or if there is it would be a 5 yr old that was born "IN" the Yoop. Some say a Yooper is born a Yooper and thats all she wrote. Now, you can reside in the Yoop, but it doesn't necessarily make you a Yooper. And as for the question how long do you remain a FIB after moving from The Land of Lincoln to the U.P.? Some say it takes a 20 year stint as a dedicated year around resident of the great U.P. Some say it's not the question of remaining a FIB, but realizing how to "LIVE" as a Yooper. As a born and bred, legitimate Yooper, I prefer the latter.

There is a certain bar in a Bergland that sells FIB shirts. The FIB on dem shirts reads: Fantastic in Bed or Finally in Bergland. Pretty funny I think. I like the shirt that has all the different positions.

I happen to know a couple people from ILL. Two as good freinds - great people.

The more people up here the better for our economy.
I moved here from northern wisconsin around six years ago myself. I say if you love it UP here and you can make a living and pay taxes here that makes you a Yooper.

P.S. thanks Tom for the funny shirts.

That one is easy, any piece of property that says no tresspassing on it. What is the first thing a FIB unpacks when he moves to gods country? The NO TRESSPASSING signs. LOL.

When I was a little guffer, I couldn't use the word liar.

But I could call out someone who was lieing, (my sister) as a Fibber or Fibbing. Some terms or words aren't so new, just rearranged with a new meaning.
