First time Yamaha owners

Went yesterday and picked up the new sleds.
I am impressed with Yamaha's engineering and accessibility for standard maintenance items. I do not think we will regret this change.

Nice sleds - congrats! You will literally put thousands and thousands of miles on those without so much as changing the oil at the end of each season. Have over 4,000 (a drop in the bucket compared to some owners) on mine and runs like the day I bought it. IF you find they "dart" or "hunt" a little on the trail (may have changed ski design in last year or two), shim up the rear of the ski rubber with a piece of slide material or other similar plastic (about 2" long x 1" wide x 1/4" thick). This levels out the carbide on the snow, rather than having the nose of the carbide do all the work. The stock carbides are also a little to be desired - you will want some much better after market carbides on there ASAP. Those two simple mods will have the sleds going down the trail straight as an arrow.

Welcome to the dark side !! you will most likly want your front track strap pulled down 2 holes so it handels like a dream .. awsum sleds you will love the fuel milage also .. Keep the rubber side down !!

Thanks for the info. We have Woody Dooly carbides to put on. Probably do that today along with mirrors, and ice scratchers. Met a couple of the engineers at Haydays, they were right across from Woody, and just down from Studboy. They gave us good information about correction for darting, and recommended either Ducebar or Woody Dooly per our riding style.

Bergstroms are best set up for Yams with shims & ski savers. Watch any doolys they ice up in transitional conditions & push the Bergstroms don't. You will luv the Vectors simple gas & go sled & 1 of the best trail sleds money can buy. Congrats!!

Hard to beat a Vector GT for trails. I had duellys on my Vector and hated them. If you want to do it and be done with it do as Whitedust says and put on the Bergstroms with shims. That is about all you will ever have to do with a Vector.

For what it's worth. I have had Yamaha's since 2002 and have tried the dooly's, snowtrackers and Bergstrom. I did not like the dooly's. they didn't really fix the darting while at the same time giving enough bite while turning. Snow-trackers are excellent as well as Bergstrom. I currently have been going with the Bergstrom's since they are a little easier to get. I had some US Customs issues with the snowtrackers since they are from Canada. Maybe that was a one time deal, but I have read so much about the Bergstrom's I had to try them. IMO, they are (Triple Points) the way to go. If you try the dooly's and aren't satisfied with them, don't get discourage...the Bergstrom's will help.

Also try Totallyamaha.com. Good site for Yamaha toys.

Snowtrackers are the best for darting and handling bar NONE. You will love the vector and the FI motor. Enjoy the sled I like the Grey color.

Thanks everyone for the compliments, and advise. They are much appreciated. Now if it would stop raining and start the snow action!
Now I will have to change my screen name :D
