Thanks everyone for the compliments, and advise. They are much appreciated. Now if it would stop raining and start the snow action!
Now I will have to change my screen name :D

Can I take your user name now? I have an 06 Fusion 600. Can't take it on a trip without replacing something! I think I got a lemon though.

in 03, a buddy and myself both bought rx-1's. I sold mine a few years back but he still has his with well over 10K miles. He's hard on sleds and have broke a arms and shocks but other than wackin trees it has been a gas and go sled. Hard to believe going on 9th season and basically change the oil replace a few belts. Oh yea, a drive bearing went out, that's it!!!

Your gonna have many good years with that sled, if you keep it, lots better than 03 tech also

06 fusion 600's were typically good sleds...

It's a blast to ride when it runs! But I've had belt issues I can't seem to fix, cracked carb boot which resulted in a total rebuild, voltage regulator. The ones that bothered me were the carb boots and the voltage regulator, as both were "updated" parts rather than "recalled" parts. I wouldn't have minded paying to replace either had I known they were going to be an issue. But both ended up impacting trips - the voltage regulator because I didn't have any lights or hand warmers, and the carb boots, because the engine locked up. The belts on the other hand...I have no answers yet although I've had 2 Poo dealers check it out.

Oh well, I'm still riding it and looking forward to riding it this year. Next sled won't be a first-year model, that's for sure. I think I'll go for something that's been around for a few years and that all the customer-supplied R&D has been completed.

ehh, that stuff is pretty normal, the carb boot problems really sucks, if you catch it, no biggie but when they cause your engine to blow up, i see how frustrated you'd get

I had the same experience as HosierSmit. Many problems with the Fusion 600. Wife had throttle cable frap, I had gas tank filler neck break, we both had the leak at the chain case, after that I forget but there were other issues.

Welcome to four stroke! Went from Skidoo to Apex three years ago and will never look back!

Like others have said dial in the suspension when you get them out it will make a night and day difference.

from polaris

I also rode polaris my last to sleds 550 fans. These were excellent sleds no problems. Then I rode a 4stroke yamaha I was hooked on them I have 05 rage 06 venture. One drawback is off season repairs donut gasget steering bushings harder on belts. I do like the 16 to 20 mpg on them

One thing I forgot to mention in my previous post and have had to do with every Yamaha sled I have bought in the last 4 years is that I had to adjust the headlights (down) so that the brights weren't aiming up in the trees. I basically drive with the brights on all the time aimed right down the trail. This gives me great visibility down the trail and along the sides where the deer hang out. I go to low beams when other riders are coming from the other direction, but where we ride that isn't too often. In fact, I believe I adjust them almost all the way down. I have also replaced the bulbs with the PIAA bulbs which you can get on amazon.

Maybe that's normal these days, buy I never had a single problem with my 02 Edge so I think I got spoiled. Plus 0 belts in 4000+ miles. Now it's averaging about one every 500. And I think my edge cost me less than the rebuild costs on the Fusion! Like I said, I think it's just all the issues inherent with the first year sled...Not trying to complain, I just liked the name FusionFool!

i guess all these things sound so normal to me since i put on 2-3k a year, you have to expect things like belts. chaincase leak can be fixed easily by putting a new seal on, and loading it up with gasket sealer.

As for the screen name. I do not think I could change my screen name if I wanted. Not sure what I would choose anyway.

Yeah, you can change them, but I was just joking.

Congrats on the new sled. No one will be pitying the fool anymore!

Indy : I would rather ride my sled than work on it. Yam 4s for the most part don't have many downtime issues...... pretty much gas & go. 6000 miles on my Attak & all I did in off season was replace donut gaskets & they were covered by warranty. All my other Ac,doo ,poo 2s were problematic! I'll never buy another 2s sled due to PIA factor. 2s just not the best sled for me in UPMI for high speed riding on wide trails.

i love working on sleds but i love riding more. Last year was my first year with downtime, prior to that, i put 6000 of the 8000 miles on my 99 indy 500 without replacing a single thing, not even a bearing.

Indy you cannot even compare a Indy 500 to a 4 stroke Yamaha. Night vs Day. I will let you ride my new Apex XTX and I guarantee you will never want to ride another Polaris again.

Nice Sleds!

I had a 07 Apex, love it to death but had to go to a long track! Yamaha has the best 4 strokes on the market! Have fun and ride on!
