I understand a cut/blown corner, but the blatant cutting through fields/private property I don't. Some of these property owners are really picky...I had one stop me and start raising h*ll because of a single track that had veered off the trail by about 6' for probably no more than 30' and just couldn't wait to shut down his part of the trail because of it.

Again....what is their understanding of a trail going through their property? What were they told in order to get permission? I am very upfront. No one is perfect and all damage will be corrected. ...and even stock exhaust makes some noise.

We have a landowner who complained every year about people going off trail. She is not a farmer so crop damaged wasn't her concern. She always wants the trail in certain spots, not pointed towards house and as far away as possible for noise. She finally got sick of off trail riders and made her own signs stating land access will be terminated if it continues. We always used our standard stay on trail signs, but must not have been enough. I will look and see if its up this year. If it is I'll take a pic. Don't know if it's an OCD thing or what, but she doesn't like it.

Same as above.

Not what she was told a trail would mean. Was before my time and this land was inherited with the trail on it. Then she built a house. Once house was built a straight shot across the property became couple 90 degree corners one which gets cut big time. Then the complaining started. She for sure thinks staying on the trail means between the diamonds and on the groomed surface. Not much you can really do. Its her land. We've talked about going around but probly won't til we are forced, if it ever gets to that point.

Best a luck. ...sometimes strategically placed caution tape at the corners helps corral sledders into a 90 degree bend vs cutting.

Last year the DNR were sitting by Krupps and pinching all kinds of loud can riders, I heard them really complaining up a storm about it, "all the money we spend here....this is the last time we are coming here...." etc.
The DNR gets such a bad rap. Like a guy the use to stop by my cabin, who thankfully doesn't anymore, complained, "yeah I hate that CO. He stopped me and my son while we were out deer hunting and ruined our hunt. We were road hunting and he pulled us over and went way overboard, checked everything and he even made me pour out my beer"

nice

There is a reason some people become DNR agents....
I've had a few run-ins with DNR via boating, sledding, ATV'ing and all of them seemed to be power hungry terds with huge egos. They love having that control or something.
Had one guy make us wait while he went on another call. He had our home addresses so we waited and when he returned he handed us our license back and then just took off.

ok--check my history if you want but I rarely post and usually don't complain. Also been an avid snowmobiler for close to 50 years. With that said what would possess some idiot to continuously brap their sled (with a can) going down a plowed county road in the UP with 1" max of snow on it past an area with multiple cabins in close proximity to the road???? Usually I could care less if somebody has a can or pipe on their sled but some riders are either just plain stupid or they are idiots oblivious to their surroundings.

Because they think it sounds cool, and therefore think everyone thinks it sounds cool.

Or, ride through Houghton in front of the M&M store braaping a can at 1AM?
Last ride to the area I heard/viewed six canned sleds braaping, all were POS 10 year old sleds. Just buy a newer sled if you want to go faster dip****s.

Hey Guys I’m the idiot some of you were talking about from YouTube! Here’s my take on this situation and my response to some of your comments about me. https://youtu.be/gKOGd3uke64

Your loud hp robbing can is just as obnoxious in the UP woods as it is riding through Krupp’s to get fuel . Nobody wants to hear it, most likely as you get some years under your belt you’ll realize this. Ditch banging in IL on a rmk is sick bro

I like your energy and if you keep on sledding in the future your maturing self will end up being a positive influence for the snowmobiling community. Brraaaap your lights out til then and when you get to the point where you actually have the responsibility to get landowners permission to cross their property it will open your eyes just a bit wider....Join a club, get involved ....or just be a youtube fart in the wind.

I absolutely love it.....the dudes got the nads to be in your face about it. All the pseudo cops on the internet with their sanctimonious lectures.
Next thing you know will be the YouTube political rebuttals to JohnDee for all the psychologically damaged 17 year olds that are overly sensitive.
If I were his age I’d do the same thing. Just a Harley boy on snow without the greasy bandana to cover the bald head/ receding hairline. LOL

Zac,
I’ve been watching your videos since you started. I’m a few years older than you, but lump myself in with the young riders. I think I can count on one hand the number of people in Illinois I knew that rode sleds my age growing up. I moved to MN after college, but the easiest thing for you to do is seriously go join a local club. All the old guys on here will preach it, but I got involved this year with one and it has completely changed my mind on how things function. Keep doing what you are doing, I appreciate the bare bones ditch riding vids. Just be smart and respectful, you and I are the people who will keep sledding alive for the years to come. Braap on buddy.

Lmao love being called out and responded to on YouTube. Only correction you could make was your age....... The thing is you instantly contradict your self in the first 3 seconds of your video. I'm not that guy. Nope your just the guy doing it in a residential area of Illinois. Your neighbors may like it they may not. However that's not the point. Loud exhaust are a huge issue you say you understand but you clearly do not. IT'S ILLEGAL. It's flat out against the law but that is the (19yr old) talking when you say you don't care. You have zero understanding of what it truly takes for trails to happen. You also have zero idea of how easy it is for a land owner to say NO MORE TRAIL ON MY PROPERTY. 99% of social media will not promote loud cans because those people understand the effects they have on the trails. Also you incredibly wrong those cans echo for days and they can be heard in the woods or power lines. My biggest thing is you promote something that can and will ruin it for way more people than all your subs times 10. Or you could promote responsible riding. Your darn right drinking and riding is a huge problem it's affected me and my family personally. But it's also a loud can uses NUMBER ONE GO TO when they get called out on running an illegal can. Facts are facts. Been riding longer than you've been alive and yet I sit here and watch ANOTHER person who could positively affect the sport drop the bomb. Use your influence you clearly have a good brain and a family who supports what you do. So why not use your age and the fact that you ride to an even greater advantage. It's really not hard to work and get in with aftermarket performance companies promote things that your sled and the snowmobile community can actually benefit from.

I enjoyed the video as well. Thank you for not making me responsible for others opinions!

A lot of truth in all of this from EVERYONE. Discussion/communication is good. Add respect and you have greatness.

I don't see it that way and I have never had a problem, ever, with a co. Maybe it's you that are the control freak and can't stand being wrong, impeded, corrected, etc..
I know, I know, you spend all this money up here so you hold some kind of golden ticket where normal behavior and social graces, don't count, nor should you have to abide by the same laws that locals do.

Perfect Sandylake! X2! Yeah it's a hassle, and life isn't fair, but that's about. So, ride, enjoy, and be safe about it.
