Ford truck motor size and extended warranty questions

I will repeat what others have said, but you will see the same theme. I have a 2012 F150 Screw with the 3.5 eco. The truck overall has been good. Recall issue very early on with turbo. Fixed under warrantee without a repeat of power dropping. Had a gasket go on my back pumpkin. To me, not a real big deal. My only real complain, is the rust. Rockers, and around the back wheel wells are bad for a truck with 70K miles. Makes me quite irate. Ford has addressed this with the AL body. Had a quote to repair and was in the $3500 range - ouch.

I travel a ton for work, and rent a vehicle almost every week. Due to my status, often get upgrades and when possible, rent trucks or SUV's. I have been quite impressed with the dodge trucks. Because I am a geek, with any rental vehicle, see what kind of mpg I get. With the dodge trucks, I was seeing around 24-25 mpg, with mostly hwy miles, but would hammer down if the opportunity seemed right. Not sure what motor was in it, but sure felt peppy enough. Also rented the Nissan Titan and was very impressed. I was burned early on with a Nissan Murano - when the alternator went out, had to remove the motor mounts to tilt the engine up to replace the alternator. So what should have been a $200-300 job, became $700. I swore I would never buy another Nissan. But the truck felt "beefy". Last week I rented a suburban. I used to be a GM guy. After renting this SUV, it reminded me again that I can't stand the 5.3. The only way to make power is with high RPM. I felt, just like my GM trucks I owned, the 5.3 is fine for transporting, but once hitched to a trailer, it hunts and pecks for the right gear all the time. Don't get me wrong, the suburban is a great vehicle, but believe the motor is simply lacking. Could not wait to get back into my eco boost motor when I got back home. The motor is very nice, but really shines when loaded down. IMHO, more so than any other motor in a 1/2 ton truck.

As much as the rust really ticks me off, and I will say I am not brand loyal by any stretch, more than likely my next truck will be an F150 Screw with an ECO.
