Some sleds will have a different set of parameters programmed into the chip set to allow the sled to change timing, and metered adjustments to milk out a bit more horsepower with high octane gasoline.
You need one like Polaris which has this mod built in. If you have no pre-programed mods and you need to do the mods yourself manually, then you MUST always run on the higher octane gasoline or chance blowing the engine.
Most sleds are made to run best on 87 or 88 octane gasoline, as the manual states.
EFI sleds can adjust on the fly for variations in the fuel from one station to another (older gasoline that has lost some of it's octane rating.)
Unless you plan on racing, I don't think you will notice the difference and few others can either...even though they say they can.<font color="ff0000">•</font><font color="ff0000">•</font><font color="ff0000">•</font><font color="ff0000">•</font> is more a mental thing than actual improvement to the get up and go in the sled.
