There is some speculation that doo will incorporate eps in 2015 models which would keep them on top.....if not eps will take market share from them.IMO
Rear exhaust is a patent thing for snowmobiles with Yamaha & Yam has it all figured out with optimum engine mapping gearing & clutch performance lots of snort more poines than front ehaust no doubt about it when you ride both back to back. QUOTE]
Maybe Ski Doo will have EPS on their touring sleds and possibly the GSX line.
Rear exhaust on the Yamaha 4s sleds gave them a "cool" factor, I thought it was fine. (I had an Apex for a couple years.) But after reading the stories of maintaining the system-like when the exhaust "donut" gaskets wear out and you need to access and replace them-didn't like the sounds of that and then Yamaha hooked up with Cat and went back with conventional snowmobile exhaust-exiting down & out in front-a good thing.
For the original question of what to buy, lot of great choices available, just need to research and pick the sled that has and does what you want.
