Great Sled - Period! This is a sled even your mother could love. I don't need to tell you about the carb'ed 600 durability.

In some ways I still miss my 03 SKS 700 (aka Switchback). Short turn radius (for a long track) and a great maneuvering sled in the bush.

I have Powderhounds on the Summit. Incredible ski in the powder and on the trail. I would say they reduced steering effort on the trail by about 80% over the stock Summit skis. In my experience, if they have a down-side it's in crusted-over snow. With the full keel they are so aggressive they will hook in the crusty snow. But then, who rides crusty snow? BTW, I have shimmed mine. Made a big difference on the trail.

I had both powder pros and slydogs on my 07 IQ RMK, I liked the slydogs a lot better.

Take a good look at the USI X2's! Awesome ski design and tunable! As aggressive or mellow as you would like them to be!!!

So, how are you going to jet it?

Just one step lower on the mains, thinking an SLP can for weight loss, don't want something obnoxious. The needle/pilots were pretty close on these sleds unlike the 600 HOs, which were probably the worst stock jetting setup ever made.

this will be a great beginner sled for you now that boondockin is in your blood. When I was running my 600 I thought it was fine and was not holding me back and in fact anyone can have a blast on a 600. When I slapped on the 700 pistons and jugs wow,,,,,,, she woke up and than the triple pipe,,holy momma,,,,made boondockin funner and the extreme terrain much more reachable. Power, track speed does determine where you can go. Boondocker82 had poo 500 and he ripped on that thing but when he got the assault he really stepped it up and now is a maniac. This sled ought to last you a few seasons if you are serious about boondockin. Will last forever on moderate aggressive riding but when the steep and deep are what you live for you'll have to steep it up to a bigger bore if you wanna go higher. You picked a great sled and are gonna have a blast, consider yourself bitten and I say 3 years and you'll be on a pro RMK,,,lol

Gotcha. I figured they were about the same, but I learned something new.

Well, not to knock the HOs as they were very good motors, but some had rod bearing issues, imo those were only due to extremly low oil consumption. They also liked to chew through water pump gears. The VES 600s were a little more bulletproof but also a touch slower and less responsive. I can already tell my IQ was a lot quicker but with a little work this switchy should haul my butt around.

Indy. Did i see somewhere that you put a pro-x shorty seat on your sled??

I have a mint shorty seat i mite sell and idk what they sell for, what did you pay if you dont mind me asking

I had one on my 500. I paid $300 (it was used for 1 weekend literally brand new) notched a small hole in the back plastic for my rear heat exchanger and sold it for $250 after using it for 3/4 of a season. I didn't put any wear or tear into it just the hole. This was the red/black model which is more sought after, the silver/black sits a little lower but people will still scoop em up. If its red/black and in mint condition definatly worth around $300. If you want it sold post it on HCS those guys go crazy over shorty seats.

Finally did it. Picked up this 05 Switchback 600. Planned on going newer but I couldn't pass it up. This thing has 1400 miles, yes, 1400 miles and is dang near brand new. I couldn't get my money out fast enough, this thing is in such good shape. Drove up to Iron River this morning to get it. She's in need of a seat, skis, and possibly 2" track to become the boondocker I want it to be, but I think she'll definatly do the trick!

nice sled Indy, curious what you pd. as I am trying to sell an 05 rmk. you could pm me,thanks man!

For the right price I might be interested I wasn't the HUGEST fan of my old one but it was definatly better than stock. I was planning on ordering a WRP mountain assault just waiting until after the Wausau show to make sure I dont find a cheap boss seat or anything. couldn't find jack at haydays.

well I have a brand new 121"x2" that needs to go also so we'll see. My top priorities are seat handlebars and skis. Never new a seat could sit so low to the ground LOL I'm thinking a WRP Mountain Assault. Also looking at WRP running boards to get rid of some snow.

contact Snodance, he was looking for a 121x1.5 but mite take a 2"
I have a 144x1.25 of his im selling for him if you want a hyfax friendly track :)

Just thought I'd give you guys an update heres how she sits in its current form. I've added The chrome windy c&a xtx skis .405 torsion springs ski stance narrowed 1.5" 3.5" rox riser fly bar pad black white powermadd handguards WRP mountain assault seat (favorite mod) SLP led taillight and I dimple died the boards. Removed the sno stuff can I put on and sold it so I'm in the market for something quieter and well built. If anybody has questions about the seat just ask. Only found 1 other person on the world wide web with it and it was a 14 yr old kid who got it for Xmas and knew nothing about it so I took a flier but boy does it seem perfect.

Nice!

It really does look great. At the risk of asking a stupid question, are the .405 springs heavier that original? When I had my 03 I always thought it could use heavier springs. I think the seat will make a huge difference in the ride.
