Gold Rush

I did some reading on this show and found out that the father and son are worth a couple mil. Well that father is at-least and the son has worked for him all his life. During the show the would go out and get burgers and pizza at restaurants that where near by.

They have all these guns but they have professional safety crews with guns on site 24 hours a day. They got permits to cross the river with the 400 and the bridge that is so unsafe took them 4 shots going back and forth with the same load to add it to the show. The car that was hit in the first episode was fake and done to add more content for the first episode but the truck the dad hit was his real truck and there was a professional bear hunter sleeping inside.

The son has been trying to get on TV for years for other shows and got turned down. He has even been quoted saying "the real gold is coming from the show."The reason they are going this slow is because they wanted to get more than one season out of. The wanted more seasons so bad they would not work for a few days at a time to drag it out.

Dorsey is a smart guy and a safety instructor for skiing. The show needed a character that seemed dumb and he got that role. At the first steps of the show they asked him to play this part and once they took this role too far he left the show. If you read his blog it is full of some good stories of how fake the show is.

The equipment they had to sell everything off for, is rented or borrowed . If you watch you can see they blur out the names on the machines but sometime they forget too when its a side shot or in the distance you can read the names on. Most of which are friends of the family. Only certain people could drive the machines, which meant more time on TV. Todd would drive most of the time but was not that qualified but spent many hours sitting in his rocking chair writing his book.

Take what you want from this. These where just some things I found out from cast members blogs and quotes from the news.
