I hear ya! I would never ride solo in Northern Ontario. I am not big on just 2 of us off trail either. Need at least 4guys with good equipment for this sort of riding. It is pure unforgiving wilderness. And I love it. When ever we talk about snowmobiling as a group Canada always comes up. example: My wife blows her sled up on the Magpie resevoir, kids think their mom is the baddest mom in snowmobiling, the time I near hit a moose, The engine rebuild 90 miles from nowhere, Life at Halfway Haven, The lumber mill tour in Dubreuilville, The weird looking wood inside Ernies and how everything including the fire dept. is named after Ernie in Missanabie, Hornpayne and the whole town is in one big building. The girls in Hearst, The ice fishing we did in Elliott lake, What's the big antenna/dish thing in Marathon, Texas holdum and hot tub at the Northern lights in Wawa, The make your self to home with the McDougles in Hillsport along with the sauna and flannel sheets. Crossing 33 miles of ice to go from Drummond Island to Thessalon and not seeing land, The time hwy 17 got closed and the kids got to ride with Dad one more day. Memories are made. And friendships are made. money well spent.

I have done all of the above-snowmobiled in Ontario for many years(17)-been to all of the above and always had a good time . Wanted to go to Terrace Bay(been there before) but they were way behind grooming and a lot of the clubs have disbanded so at the last minute we went to Greenland, Mi-trails were great and there was plenty of snow but had to put up with a lot of sleds on the week-ends. This was the first week of Feb. There is nothing like trails in Canada, if they groom them . I know they charge $140.00 and the exchange rate is not what it used to be (35%) but this is where your priorities come in.

actually I don't think I will ever retire. I love my job and the freedom that comes with it. I am just plucking away at my "Bucket List" early on. Life is a once and done event. It's "Game over" when you die. Live life. I don't think I can afford it anymore than the rest of you. It's my priorities that may be different.

I am so proud. (tears). Indy when you turn 18 we can put you to work when you are on college break. I have a couple College kids each summer, Mich. Tech. &/or Kettering guys, I can put you in the sled shop with my brother. He is all about snowmobiles and blowing things up. He kinda lives a "Junk Yard wars" lifestyle with a whole lot of "Myth Busters" mixed in. We will feed you, house you and pay you very little. lol

We have a lot of old sleds 1968 to 1996 stuff all makes and models. Large shop with every tool known to man kind. We have a sled frame machine (pretty rare). Large Snap On tool boxes, welders, etc. Sleds come in from auction or other networking sources, You will either strip them for parts, restore, or salvage for the different metals. It is an Ebay store operation. Specializing in Vintage sleds and sled parts with some snowthrower and lawnmower repairs thrown in. My brother runs (does the work)the shop with one other guy who labels parts writes discriptions and takes pics and a woman named Teresa who runs the web site. I just show up to pick up dimple dies and visit.

Alright... some info needed. What is the most luxurious resort in Ontario ? Ever stay at the Eco Lodge on Elk Lake ? The chalets look acceptable little worried about the name and the snowmobilier stuff. I would think all would be about the "green " in this economy ??? Only pics they had was a squirrel and some sno shoe guy ??? Looks like the trail runs right by the place . Once again it's about priorities. Need a nice place to stay , not a motel room.

Any Input ?

I think you would have to go to Toronto for most luxurious resort. Never been to eco lodge on any Elk lake, sorry. Canada has some fantastic Bed and Breakfast places. I usually stay at motels while in Canada.

Maybe this will help http://www.elklake.ca/tourismaccomodation.html
