i was wondering... how do i gut out my exhaust i would like to make it a little bit louder
If you have a 2 cycle don't gut it as you will loose backpreasure and sled will not run well. You need this back preasure to make your full pump work on some motors.
There is no problem cutting it apart and gutting it, I have done this to many sleds. I also make glasspacks that fit on sleds and they sound awesome. Now I have no muffler at all on my old beater just a stinger out the side of the hood and it runs great, but I don't go on the trails with it cuz it is LOUD
please dont do a glass pack set up i ask this in hope of keeping our trails if you want a louder exhaust dont go any luder than an slp can and gutting the can will cause a power loss because you dont have enough back pressure which is required. That is also why they are considered tuned pipes
I use just a regular automotive glass pack, the shortest ones I can get and then find the proper bends that I need and start welding. My last sled I gutted the stock can and cut about half of it off and welded in some sheet metal, it kind of sounded like a flowmaster it was not that loud and no loss of performance. The more air you can move in and out the better.
if you want it a little bit louder get an slp exhaust can and nothing louder. The biggest complaint these days from land owners that let our trails run through their property and by their homes is loud pipes.
they dont make cans for 92 skidoo if i want anything above stock ill have to do it myself
Are you dudes serious, or is this just a fishing expedition to get people fired up? Loud exhaust is destroying our sport, on trail OR off, and in most cases you will LOSE power!!! It is the # 1 reason for land closure!! Why in the world would you want to listen to a glass pack all day long anyway?
