gutting exhaust can

I was....

gassing my Exped. in Bergland this weekend when a rider came sliding in with a piped sled. I've never heard a race sled so loud. I thought to myself that this is why we are losing our sport. It's no wonder that land owners hate those d%# things! I love the NHRA and MDRA but I attend their events to enjoy the noise! I agree with most on this forum, just leave the opened cans for the garbage man!

X4 again don't do it even if its just screwing around your place. More then likely a neighbor will hear it or even somebody going by. Its annoying to listen to and most people move out to the country for peace and quite not for noise!

all my neighbors snowmobile and the others like it even if they dont have one

and what about if theres races nearby? those neighbors prolly dont want to hear it and if they complain what are they going to do? close the races for exhaust

You don't know that. i was sitting at a bar once outside waiting for my mom, dad, sister, uncle, 2 cousins, and my aunt to come out and i was out there for about 15 minutes messing around on my sled. all of a sudden i heard this really loud roar and 10 minutes later 4 sleds came up to this bar riding the ditches when the trail is right on the other side. gives snowmobilers a bad name and ruins ur sled

i'd like to know how to quiet mine down.it's stock 03polaris so it's not real loud at all but it would be nice if it was really quiet.

i run twin pipes without mufflers

Loud pipes save lives!! they warn people blocking intersections to get out of the way

late post here

If you like loud pipes, run a freaking stinger into your NFMH. The back pressure will add 10 horse and while you are at it port your chaincase for added decibels.

Are you dudes serious, or is this just a fishing expedition to get people fired up? Loud exhaust is destroying our sport, on trail OR off, and in most cases you will LOSE power!!! It is the # 1 reason for land closure!! Why in the world would you want to listen to a glass pack all day long anyway?

how will I be able to hear if the sled is running right over my I pod rocking in the helmet speakers with out a can braping in the back ground

What is NFMH? I'm thinking not such a nice thing, but wanted to understand the post. I'm tired of loud too. I like a little more than stock, especially Poo who has very quiet sleds these days. But not the obnoxious stuff, which even a couple of riding buddies have. The Ultra Q and Super Q are a nice sound and not loud at all.

kids yell at me at school when we park in a line and i start up my 700 then they can't tell whether or not their sled is running! and btw it is stock.

I have to say I agree with winter time...... One of the most annoying things on the trails and anywhere for that matter are the guys that think they are the best because they have loud snowmobiles..... I would say dont go above a slp can. I put one on my 2000 indy xcsp 600 and it sounded great but was to loud for me. Also, there is a reason that manufacturers make the pipes the way they do. Thanks.
