gutting exhaust can

I have to say I agree with winter time...... One of the most annoying things on the trails and anywhere for that matter are the guys that think they are the best because they have loud snowmobiles..... I would say dont go above a slp can. I put one on my 2000 indy xcsp 600 and it sounded great but was to loud for me. Also, there is a reason that manufacturers make the pipes the way they do. Thanks.

cuz manufactureres are cheap

manufactureres actually make the pipes to get optimal performance out of the sled while keeping the sled at reasonable sound levels and making the sled as reliable as possible. changing a can will save you a little bit of weight and actually dont give you any noticeable increase in power

louder your sled is, less top end you'll get. you'll also lean out your engine by guttin ur can. why don't you do something better than that to your 1992

I run twins on my 700 and never lost any top end I would get your facts right first.

Gutting the can or adding an aftermarket can will not cause your sled to run lean, you should only have to rejet if you change the pipe and the size of the expansion chamber

pipes

twin pipes are totally different from guttin your can to make it louder.

Those pipes in my picture are about as loud as they come that is why i quoted you because you staited that the louder it is the less top end you'll have which is incorrect, it doesn't affect your speed at all.

i was talking about making your stock can loud by gutting. yes i know i don't always phrase everything well, i just click "submit reply" and some of this pertains to mrskidoobydoobydoo like the lean part. he's trying to make a 1992 w/9000 miles louder and it's got a hole thru the ski w/no carbide, and a ripped seat. and his clutch is shot. no lets skip those things, lets make it louder! makes sense to u don't it?

ok Indy now I see, he should probably have a few other things done before worrying about making noise. If he can't fix what is already wrong with this thing then I wouldn't worry to much about a loud exhaust system on it.
