Handlebar riser puts stress on your steering system?

I have a 3 inch riser on my sled. Took my sled and my dads to a dealer for tune-ups and we knew we were going to have some problems. I need a whole new clutch and my dad needs some work on the pistons and some work on his clutch. The mechanic also noted that he doesn't like risers because they put stress on your steering system. is this true?

Yes, they put stress on the system. Is it all bad – no. I have 4 inch risers on my Renegade and 8 inch risers on my Summit with no problems.

is it something to worry about after putting a 3 inch riser on a sled with 7000 miles? (no riser before)

Indy 500, if it breaks weld it. I bought a steering select delete kit from a guy on snowest. He makes them for 05 and 06 Polaris Fusion and IQ models. Money well spent. It added tons of strength to the steering post. Improvise a bracket your self for your sled. I know you can do it. Do you have shop class at school?

I'm basically saying i don't want to spend more money on it in case it breaks. polarisrider1, i need a whole new clutch and my dad needs some new clutch parts and a 2nd rebuild on his great 550 engine.

The switchy just went up in price. It is in fine working order. It still has your name on it. It's the sled at far right in my profile pic.

indy 500, I would rather put stress on my steering system thean put stress on me. Ride Tall, Ride proud. Now how many garden tools have you got in your pack? oh! Besides you are on a Polaris. Whats to break?
