Except you have zero facts to back you up yet you willingly glom onto giving snowmobilers a bad name in the process.
I will never agree with this line of thinking.
The best prepared don't show up here whining about what "happened" to them....victims....so many victims.

I would bet it wasn’t a snowmobilier who took these items. I’d guess a local who has nothing to lose.

I get to my buddies place and it ain't plowed out.....end a story...so you didn't even have the forethought to talk about the conditions getting IN?.... victims...self created victims...LOL

I would bet it wasn’t a snowmobilier who took these items. I’d guess a local with nothing to lose.

Err, umm I went to my bubdees cabin...didint know it wasn't plowed out//...WHY NOT?
Yes everyone hates thieves , but your unprepaired situation and off season maintenance is what lead to your butt hurt debacle. jezus yur an unprepared city dweller....at best....schit yur lost items are just misplaced from hearing your rant....LOL

Snobuilder - I'll bite.....The driveway was plowed out, with the exception of this last snow fall of about 4-5". Normally, this amount of snow is not an issue for a 4wd truck with good tires, which was the case with this vehicle. However, what we didn't know was under the 4-5" of snow was 100% ice on the driveway. I am sure your utopia world, we would have had the driveway salted prior to our arrival. LOL. Just not how my reality is I guess.

A Northface Vest? Are you sure you weren’t actually out cross country skiing? lol

Brother use to work at The North Face - so I have a lot of their gear and to be honest, works pretty darn good for this type of sport.

That's just ridiculous. I would've been visiting every bar in area looking for the idiot.

We did. The area we were in is fairly remote, but did visit the closest 8 bars or so and no sleds to be found. Spoke with the sheriff as well, but not expecting much. He stated this is the first time he has heard of a grab and dash type situation taken off a sled. Stated cabin break ins are pretty common but not items stolen from sleds, atv's, or utv's.

Just noticed this thread. Were you trying to say thieves? Instead of theives? It is I be for E except after C. This entire site has become a playground for illiterates.Sorry for your loss. Hope you are not in the teaching profession.

I will admit I am a terrible speller and did notice my mistake after I posted. Unfortunately I can't edit the title. Being a poor speller does not make someone a bad person - LOL.

I parked my sled well off the trail with no other tracks of any sorts near it. There were a set of fresh snowmobile tracks right next to where my sled was parked. I could see the footprints in the snow of about a size 10 or 11 boot walk around my machine. 95% certain it was a snowmobiler who took my gear with what I saw for evidence.

Whether sjb was ill-prepared or not is irrelevant. Nobody deserves to have their stuff stolen. A thief, whether snowmobiler, local, or otherwise is nothing but a turd, of the smelliest, squishiest sort.

How do you come up with $17 at a rummage sale? I would love to buy spare belts for $17, with all the other stuff thrown in. We would all be lining up.

BTW - what do you carry on your snowmobile for extra's? Or do you just rely on someone else if you get into a situation?

I often carry my battery jumper as well, which is over $100. Due to the warmer weather, I did not think it was merited, otherwise I would be out even more.

SJB,

How did you get the sled home?

Sled broke down not too far from a 2 track fireroad. The back wheels were still there, but shot. So I was able to limp it to the trailer not too far of a distance away to where the truck and trailer were parked.

Were you born a huge douchebag or did you start small and grow?

He's been cultivated quite nicely on this site, and apparently nobody will slow his growth into a full grown Douchebag down either. A guy like that wouldn't have lasted very long on the OLD John Dee site....

You are right, the old JD didn't tolerate direct name calling.

Nothing personal with the people of the Marinette area but I estimate this County has more problems with Meth per-capita than any other in Wisconsin, this is not what the locals want as the big city sends the scourge to the rural areas and contaminates it. Even the politicians are in the press trying to get help with the area as it is personal to them.

Fuji - I had the same exact thoughts. But then countered my own thoughts with......

Most meth heads don't have anything because they have sold off whatever they have for pennies on the dollar for the next high. The person who took my stuff had a snowmobile. That part did not add up for me.

Sad to hear.
I am your neighbor and live in Green Bay, crime is on the rise all over.
My neighbor had his truck stolen from his yard by a group of four high school kids aged 14-18 who were addicted to Oxy. They terrorized the area for three months and had quite the little crime spree going until they got caught after eight robberies (one guy they hit twice while he slept).
When all tallied, they stole 12 guns, two vehicles and about 8k in cash.
The kids were all local to the area and had the same addition, Oxy. One kid got hurt in sports and was prescribed Oxy and shared it with his friends and it got out of control.
This can happen anywhere.

its almost ALWAYS a local...and heres another trick they do regularly...when your in bar they take off your new belt and replace with worn out belt since they know your from south and not a local....odds are your gonna have a new belt on a trip and odds are you don't have time to follow it up or check places and CL for your stuff...its local meth heads and not sledders....but some have a sled to travel to and from meth cooking cabin in woods....always bury a sled if need to hide...or way way way off beaten path....plus.....you might of been able to follow those tracks if you would of thought of it

The meth cook cabin could make sense - that is something I did not think of. When we came back, we did not have any sleds in the trailer so we could not follow any tracks. But it is something we thought of.
