UUUUGH!! not to get off subject of towing but I get irritated when in grocery line watching purchases being made with tax payers dollars that I don't or cant do my self, I think I would blow my top if I was in a restaurant and someone was dining at taxpayers expense. I have always said we are the stupid ones, our weakness being pride. I feel for the people of Illinois, there has to be justification and accountability for taxation and spending of it there of, something has to be fixed. That is pure insanity!

nothing to do with population decrease and everything to do with gross incompetence of previous political administrations.

Blagojevich (Rod Munch).
Nuff said.

We'll, why not say more about corruption in IL..I am plugged into the Casino industry and the Chi/IL politicians are stepping all over each other to pocket money before the next guy does while processing the development of six casinos. Even Police types are involved, who can you trust?

It isn't just Illi. I have a grocery store in MN. There are all kinds of interesting subsets of rules for food stamp - now EBT - recipients. If a cash paying customer buys potato chips and Mountain Dew that customer pays sales tax on those taxable items. If bought with an EBT card the tax gets backed out. Lots of stuff like that. The worst I ever witnessed was when a couple came in and bought about $300 bucks worth of stuff on EBT. They had Crab Legs and Lobster and junk food. That was bad enough but as they were checking out the husband yelled out to his bride - Hey - we forgot the dog! - So she went to the meat counter and grabbed 3 packages of ground beef. You can't buy regular dog food with EBT but these folks had that all figured out. The entire system is so screwed up it is unbelievable.
There are 2 reasons they got rid of paper food stamps. The smaller reason is so that EBT folks can use a credit card thingy so they don't look like Welfare folks. But the bigger reason was to get rid of the huge fraud. It was common practice to trade food stamps for half of face value or less to get booze and smokes.

Stood in line behind a mom and daughter one day at the grocery store. Their cart was filled to the rim and as they were checking out most of the groceries went past the check out except some chicken legs and steak which stayed in the cart (what was really happening there eh?). It seemed like it was taken forever so I got a little irritated by that but when I saw the EBT card come out I nearly blew a gasket! Anyway, before they could pay with the card they had to come up with $1.35 for the tinfoil which was not covered I guess. They both looked at each other and asked if they had a the cash and they both didn't "I don't have that money" (GRRRRR). SO, they didn't get the tinfoil. Well, that's not it folks, when I walked out after checking out I see them loading up in a new car!!!! Are you kidding me?

I sincerely believe people go through hard times and need help which I'm all for in a controlled system. But abusing the system and outright stealing is unacceptable and needs to be closer monitored.

Hey fuji, when my parents first married, they farmed, and truck gardened. They sold popcorn to a lot of the movie theaters in western Il. It was pretty good money back then. However, they had to go thru the Mob in order to do so. Scared my mom terrible. My father told me years later, he never got screwed, or lost anything. He said any deals he had with them, was always good, and so was "their word". Not much of that around anymore? People who attempted to cheat them, did not turn out so good. My uncle always told me, as he was a trucker, had been told by many that Al Capone was close to being the most honest businessman in Chitown in that day? Political parties, and the Politicians tend to support that thought! My father always said that no matter how much money, or wealth you have, if your word is no good, you are worthless!

This kind of fraud just makes my blood boil. Its everywhere in government. In MN our DHS (Department of Human Services); the largest budget line item on the books; is being audited due to hundreds of million dollars being distributed fraudulently, or in some cases stolen. The lack of accountability drives me insane. Why are the people that are put in charge of government agencies immune from prosecution, or even worse on paid admin leave while an investigation that will take at least a year? I want my money Back....

The ex girlfriend has been working in the Medicare area of health care in MN for the last few years. There are SO MANY loop holes in the system, and the immigrants have been educated on how to take advantage of that.

For example: (Not picking on Somali's, but this is what they do) They come over here as a family with 4-5 sometimes 7 or 8 kids. The FATHER gets a good paying job, takes on the company health insurance as an Individual, and the family signs up for, AND GETS government provided health care that WE, the tax payer provides. Why? Because that's how the laws are written for immigrants coming to this country.

Another example: Unemployed alcoholic gets put on government provided health care, due to the inability to get and hold a job. That person has specific medications they are supposed to take to keep their health in check. But because they have no responsible reason to stay in town and take care of themselves, they take a 2 week vacation to the Carribean Islands (Where that money came from nobody knows), drink and party their faces off. When they return, they are in such bad shape, they NEED a 2-3 day HOSPITAL stay, to get their vitals back in order, and get back on the medication they didn't take for the 2 weeks they were enjoying life.

Who pays for that? You guessed it.....

Yenann...nope, the increase is for all renewals per the lady at the Secretary of State's office. You are on the hook for an additional $300.00 next year!

Here is a question, could you ever get ticketed in Wisconsin for an Illinois truck pulling a trailer with no plate? My boat trailer is never coming back but I have two sled trailers and at least one will come back to help move and I know I would get hit as soon as I came back into Illinois with it as last time I was caught in two hours as I did not have the current sticker on it, so I have to renew at least one, just considering not doing both. I figured we had at least 5+ years left but now we are thinking about doing it a lot sooner.

The last time they raised the plates like this was for George Ryan's Illinois First. That was a good program. The State DOT had roadway projects all over the place. The State's Professional Transportation Bulletin (PTB) for roadway projects had listings of at least 120 projects every three months for almost a decade. Jail-bird Blago's road project was min-askew in comparison to Ryan's. His might of had 30 to 50 projects on a PTB for maybe four years. Gov. Jelly Belly's (you know who, JB) road program is 14 to almost 50 projects on a PTB with the last one having 60+. So, it appears right now they are not fixing / improving the roads like Ryan. With the plate hike and gas tax increase, there should be 150 to 200 projects per PTB. So, if all the money is not going to the roads, where is it going? Doesn't this make you feel great? (rhetorical questions, don't answer)

(PTB is for engineering services and not construction.)

Dad lives in Illinois but keeps all our stuff registered in Wisconsin right across the border at our lakehouse. I think he was stopped once in IL for having no trailer plate and just told them in was registered in Wisconsin. Let him go without a ticket. Not sure what that outcome might be for everyone, personally would just say its a friends trailer from wisconsin and they don't require it there. Don't be an a$$ to the law enforcement and they probably let you go.

18 to 118 is ridiculous , didn't check yet to see how much the TC plate for the car trailer increase will be currently 58, so I assume they will stick to me for 158 for that one.

Probably just use the TC plate on both for the 2020 /2021 season
