Well, we ended up with over 9" of accumulation here in the Banana Belt, kind of hard to get a decent read due to the amount of blowing & drifting that we had. Schools in the area have closed due to the snow, first time in over 2 years. Now, we get ready for round #2!!! The shout continues..... "HEERE BLEEZARD BLEEZARD!!!!"-Mezz

Brown snow!

About that new snow …

You've heard about yellow snow. Now how about brown snow?!

"Brown Snow? Kansas Winds Bring a Coating of Dust to Upper Michigan

An odd event was observed across the western portions of Upper Michigan Sunday afternoon as brown snow fell from the sky and covered the ground. The brown color can be attributed to dust originating across western Kansas and the panhandle of Oklahoma. When the system that brought snow to Upper Michigan Sunday was developing across the northern Great Plains on Saturday, strong southerly winds kicked up loose dust. This dust was carried northward by the strong winds across Nebraska and into the Dakotas. Once the dust reached the Dakotas, it became wrapped up in the developing storm circulation and was transported eastward on Sunday. When a patch of snow moved across far northern Wisconsin and western Upper Michigan Sunday afternoon, it deposited some of this dust across the area, leaving a fine brown coating on the snow."
As ol' Paul Harvey would have said: "Now you know the rest of the story!" See the link for more: NWS Marquette: snow report.

Round #2 began with some strong wind gusts early this morning, at 11:00 a.m. the winds intensified and the snow began. Down right ugly right now. Visiblity is down to about an 1/8th of a mile to near zero at times. I am closing the offices at 1:00 p.m., too nasty out there, drive safe & hang on to your hat Mizz Daisey! Waiting for round#3, the shout continues....."HEERE BLEEZARD BLEEZARD!!!!!" -Mezz

Snowgasm, thats a good one! LOL! Well, we ended the day with an additional 8" of c-ment here in the banana belt, holy crap! Schools were called off yesterday & again today. No snow day's for a few years, now 3 in 4 day's. Still lots of plowing & a bit of shoveling to finish, but, that is fine by me. Now, will we be in line for round #3? Hmmm, I don't know if I want anymore just now......Just kiddin, bring it on. The shout continues....."HEERE BLEEZARD BLEEZARD!!!!"-Mezz

Well, we did end up with some real decent snows on Saturday, especially in Keweenaw. We got out for a ride & believe it or not, visiblity was real slim. We did manage about 45 miles worth of decent backwoods play. With the rate of snowfall we called it early & decided to hit it again on Sunday. Considering the up-coming weeks weather (upper 30's to 40+) felt that this may be the time to get out into ideal Pow, and let me tell you, I am still kicking myself in the Azz for not taking the camera. We ventured into places that had not a single track all year (no one in their right mind would have gone there) & I kid you not, area's of waist deep Surfin with the Alien champagne powder. It was the best conditions I have seen in over a year, pure floating, leaning, throttling heaven. I am presently trying to recover, by the end of the day my knee's were killing me. It's __ll to get old, but, I would not have traded that for a day on the couch or Lay Z Boy, plenty of time for that. By the way, I'm not going to shout for a while, at least until I can handle it.-Mezz

A Christian Sledder's PRAYER for SNOW

Dear God, we thank you for your goodness towards us, and for sending us your Son Jesus. Thank you for my brand new sled sitting in the garage, and for my new four place enclosed aluminum trailer. Thank you for the week off you have provided from my job. Thanks, for allowing me to get away with my family (and or the boys), thank you for your loving kindness.

Ahem. Now, Lord....about the lack of snow and lack of cold temperatures. We humbly ask that you wouldst smite the entire upper midwest and great lakes with a horrific snow storm, the likes of which we have not seen in fifty years, accompanied by extreme and devastating low temperatures.

Freeze up thy lakes oh God, and all thy waterways. Spare the cities from harm dear Lord, but blast the countryside into next Friday with your fury. Pour out your wrath in a mighty display of howling wind and deep fresh snow.

We thank you in advance oh God, for your mercies. We all promise, and covenant with you oh God, to be better husbands, and better fathers. We promise to be more generous, drink a little less beer, and be more forgiving with our friends and neighbors.

We also promise God, to ride safe and sober the rest of this winter...for real ... Thank you for your love.

Amen.

Amen!! God Bless

looks like you should get a good dose Hemi. Only lookin' for a couple inches at most down here west of Madison. Enough to give the snowblower an eye opener.
