Helmet recall

I got that also on occasion. And we know my shield was not getting power. My Flow shield does allow infiltration as it has minor gaps in the wiper and big build up of snow on the shield mounts. These gaps are significantly larger on the original shield.

Based on my experience, run continuity tests on the back contacts. Acceptable range is 9-12, mine was at 11. Next run resistance between the two helmet shield contacts. Mine bounced around indicating the shield power was not functioning. The shield is easy to test the two screws or contact points…

I have a new issue and wonder if any of you may be experiencing this as well, don't know if maybe I have a mal-formed shield or if I fixed one problem and created another with the new style vented shield. Last week when I was up all of a sudden I had water droplets running down the inside of my shield, not between the panes but on inside of helmet on shield. wasn't completely annoying but I was like.... what the hell. When we stopped and looked a little closer there is that wiper seal on top of face opening that seals against the helmet shield when closed. I have a frost line right along it, right above heating element in shield and I am assuming the frost continues to build...the heating element melts it and it runs down inside of shield. Anyone else having this issue? with vented shield am I introducing too much air into helmet and its blowing out upper shield seal causing frost to build there? Just curious if anyone else is experiencing the water droplets? fixes? corrections? or like I said... did I fix one issue and create another?

Cannot agree with you more, my initial draw to the helmet was the large face shield, I also have a big noggin and over the 30 plus years I have been riding have had helmets that fit but never one as well as the Oxygen helmet fit, plenty of room between face and chin bar, no breath deflectors against my face, could really care less that the helmet was heated but won't deny it was nice especially in the bitter cold, was actually too warm most of the time and until I bought the vented shield would ride with shield cracked open even when on low setting. One big draw back was when the helmet wasn't working it fogged and frosted faster than any other helmet I have ever owned. Moral of the story.... is it a nice helmet? absolutely but.... if it is a problem with the electronics of the shield I will go back to your statement "Perhaps too much tech is not so good" and I am admittedly not a techy guy. I will check the wiring in the helmet and if that is the problem, even though the helmet is likely under warranty I will abandon the helmet and find another as it might have been the best fitting helmet I have ever owned and biggest view of any helmet I've ever owned but if i will have to deal with the techy issues I could really do without.... no thanks! and you are correct "too much tech is not so good"

Did you try the Mission helmet ? Very happy with it, you don't even need to use the heated shield unless icing or snowing hard.
Your breath vents out the back, so it doesn't fog the shield up.

Best helmet I've had so far.

if there is an electrical problem with the helmet, from all the talk Mission will be my first try

I wear glasses when I ride and it kinda sucks. Wasn't an issue years ago but in the last 5 years or so I've had to try a few different helmets. I tried a BRP modular and that was ok then a couple years ago I went to a BRP Exome. When I get it fit correctly, it works quite well. Sometimes it's a bit tricky to get the mask to fit my nose correctly. Another thing is wearing that mask on a long day gets old afterwhile. I was considering going to an Oxygen but I don't want to spend all that money if it won't keep my glasses clear. Not wearing the breath mask might be worth it though.

Every helmet has its warts. Last week when I had to use the back up sled I thought the rca plug went out. Pulled out the old BRP Mod 3 helmet to keep riding. I had had the Mod 2 for 12 years and the Mod 3 for 5 years. Really liked them but that day last week going back to the Mod 3 was so disappointing. The noise was deafening (I now understand why I have hearing aids!). I forgot I always had to wear ear plugs. The snorkel slid down and pinched my nose on all the dang moguls making it hard to breathe. And the wet diaper really grosses me out.
Even with the shield not working on my Oxygen, it is so far superior than any other helmet I have owned…

I agree with you as far as superiority and I am thinking it is not an electrical problem as the frost occurs above the heating element on the shield and the heat melts it and it runs down in droplet form on inside of helmet on shield, is it a bit annoying yes but the more I think about it its not an electrical issue, the wiper seal is this thin piece of rubber and Im wondering if with vented shield in combination of having every other vent open as well that its allowing air to escape past wiper seal and hence frost forming above heating element as I did not have this problem before. But if it were an electrical issue I would probably look elsewhere for a helmet as I would expect it to last longer but thinking its not
