Help locating trailer parts - trailer brakes

Indy, I've had more problems with my brakes that one could imagine due to the salt etc and my lack of knowledge/maintenance (I hate admitting that but that's who I am!). In quick glimpsing through the thread and attached websites.....the best option is ordering the whole assembly and the Easternmarine website looked pretty dang good. If you have everything torn apart you might as well replace the magnet too and if you're going to do that you might as well change the whole assembly instead of fighting already rusted bolts connections etc. I need to work on mine again next fall and this is the route I may go.

Good luck!

You nailed it harski!!!!!! Snowmobile trailers are for the most part only used in the worst weather and road conditions. Salt, and the brine solutions that are used as deicers are the main cause of the rust, and corrosion that destroys, and locks up brake components. The brine solution is by far the worst. Drum brakes are much more difficult to keep washed clean of the salt/solution residue than disk brakes. I use WD40 to try to prevent moisture, rusting, and corrosion when not in use. It helps big time.

Yeppp, just put the sleds and trailer to bed for the summer and took a few minutes to look the brakes over. All I needed to do is look at one assembly to confirm they are locked up. Not worth it to me to wrestle loosening them up and changing out the magnet. Will buy new assemblies and tackle this fall. It's unfortunate to have to put so much effort into to the trailer now too due to road salt and brine but, if you don't have brakes and get into an accident, you'll be toast! Just part of the sport now I guess.......

Indy, what direction did you end up going?
