Here we go again

I don't believe it's trail 2 this time. It's a short portion of trail 8 just east of the parknride on the south side of Sunday Lake near the VFW. From what I read it sounds like they'll get it resolved quickly.

So there are a few different way to get through there using side streets but by no means ideal. I believe it is where you go around the back side of the small used car lot that is just to the west of the VFW. I actually was at that exact spot yesterday and just back tracked to town.

I'm hearing that the Sunday Lake Auto business owner, (who is a great guy and fellow snowmobiler) had too many near misses with the throttle jockeys blasting through his lot without a care for anything, had enough. Too bad. I don't blame him when idiots create a liability for his business.

Well we have probably all looked at that video on the other thread of how stupid riders are! But knowing how tight it is going behind the building I can’t imagine that snowmobilers and go to fast through there. One way to fix problem would be to stop the grooming around his building and make people slow to go through the moguls it can’t be more than a 200 yard stretch that is there.

Goffy600 I have a question for you that maybe you have answered in the past. Trail 2 heading West out of Watersmeet you get off the grade and have to go through the woods then end up following a road for a couple of miles. I know they lost grade to a landowner issue. Why couldn't they follow the power lines instead the road?

Hermie, correct on the fact that a landowner did close that section long before me (way long before me). The road was the option, there never was powerlines until the last year alongside the road if that is what you are asking or were thinking the pipelines? As for new power lines along roads I wish they would have cleared them better then I could’ve tried to get easements to move it off the road. I might still try doing that in the future but will take a lot of work to move the the trail into the right of way.

It may be the pipeline. When your going through the woods there is an opening and it is there when you get in the other section of woods.

The pipe lines run through the same private lands as the old railroad grade does so I’m sure that is part of that problem. But if you get to ride there this year you will see the power company just put in new lines along the road where most of the road running is so if I can eventually get that cleared I may be able to move the trail off the road and into the easement. Or for a cool $14 million you can buy the northwoods conference center where old grade was and grant us an easement again.🥴 I will also say if it ever sells I will see if we can get it back but I thing there is a runway where the grade was.

The 2 road bipass is aok I actually go pretty slow thru there in comparison to riding the grade always looking for the best snow on any road trail. I avoid trail 3 out of Watersmeet just hate the north end roaded trail just before trail 8 on an otherwise awesome well maintained trail.

Ya, really wish Sno Valley could figure a better route for that. Like so many other trails a new person bought the land where the trail went almost straight into Bruce Crossing and closed it so that is when the trail got rerouted to the road many years ago.
