It really looks like Brett is playing with a different look. He is pulling back some of those passes he would have flung up for interceptions in the past. I dont know if I can say the pack went the right way. after all they were in the nfc champ game and 13-3 in favre last season. Yes, brett threw a pick, but it should not have even made it into overtime...pack should have won before that. FYI..Thompson is to blame for all packer woes. He doesnt want any wolf players left and he said so. Kampman and Driver are left and will be gone after this year. They did bring back Green, but thats just to plug a whole for now. He tore apart the oline as soon as he was here getting rid of 2 all pro's...we won 4 that year. I can see maybe doing one, why two!! what an arse. Matt Millen part Deaux!--what a ron wolf wannabe.

If you honestly think a strong NFL franchise ran a legend out of town you are not an NFL fan, because no one in their right mind would do that. Truth be told Farve didnt get along with Thompson. He retired from the Jets too, u cant honestly tell me he was kicked out of New York also...Thats just plain ridiculous. Brett is still a good quarterback but you cant leave a franchise on his shoulders and whether he will return or not. It was time for someone to tell Brett you have to decide now because we are not waiting all summer to see if we have a quarterback. You had a young qb and what would that do to his mind set when he thinks he's the starter but then a month b4 the season he is told brett is coming back and is starting. It happened two years maybe three, it was enough. Go Rodgers, a true packer fan will back there current players!

Know how to win a Super Bowl?? (Play the Vikequeen's)

Teddy Thomson should have spent some money and got Brett a few more playmakers. Then, today we'd be 7-1 and leading the division we usually led while Brett was our QB. You slap the franchise tag on Rodgers and your "young up and comer" is shelved until Brett retires. The guy gave everything he had to the Green Bay Packers and football in general.

That being said...I hope he NEVER wins another Super Bowl.

He Wont win another superbowl, I doubt if he will ever get to one! I know the Vikings are a really good team this year but I just don't think they will make it all the way! And there has NEVER been a 40 year old QB to EVER win a playoff game! And there have been many that have tried! And as far as how can a PACKER fan boo him, maybe because he is playing for one of the most hated teams we play 2 times a year. I am greatful for the years he gave us but could care less about him anymore! I am a PACKER FAN not a Favre Fan. And he is no longer on my team so best of luck to you Brent, I will get a good laugh watching you somehow chock down the stretch, its going to happen!

I don't understand why any Packer fan takes this as a personal insult. If you trained in somebody to do YOUR job, and then said we are going with THAT guy because he is younger, wouldn't YOU be pissed? Would it have been better if the Packers would have just cut Favre? You tell me...I honestly don't know how this has gotten so far out of hand. It is called free agency, with FREE being the key word.

Favre was voted the NFC offensive player of the week. Ouch, that's gotta hurt, especially when it was against the Packer's!

Favre looks great this year but Rodgers looking good as well. Rodgers was the NFC player of the month(Oct) and has the #1 QB rating at 110.4 as of this week. He is getting killed with no protection and needs to learn when to throw the ball away. Rodgers has a great future, but I would still take Favre in a close game any day of the week!

Packer fans should be happy because tickets and merchandise are 50% lower than last week and big November sales are coming! Hard to find purple fabric and paint in the midwest! GO Brett !!

I live 1 1/2 hours north of Green Bay, so this Favre thing is always being discussed. Let me explain to you Viking fans what the problem is.

Favre is one of, if not the greatest player ever. Vikings are a great team this year, most say they were only 1 player short of being the best and that player is Favre. Favre will lead the Vikings to a great season, maybe the Superbowl, maybe even winning it.

Let's imagine that the Vikes finally do win a Superbowl this year. Euphoria will break out! There will be lutefisk fires on the Iron Range, a new stadium will be planned, the hookers on Hennepin Ave will work for free for a week! It will be so joyful that St. Paul will actually have a downtown bar other than Allary's open past 8:00 on a weeknight!

Then, it will get cold. Black ice will form on the I-35 bridge, your beer will freeze in the trunk on the way home from MGM. Your dog will refuse to go out and pee, and your wife will just start to look mean. It's winter in Minnesota.
But you and your buddies will stand by your fish houses and work on your sleds and talk about NEXT YEAR! Ya sure, by golly, next year we're gonna win it again! Favre is gonna do 2 in a row.

And then, you will wait.
And wait
And wait
And FAvre will say "I'm not sure I have it in me to play again, but I'll let you know in 10 weeks." Then he drives off on his $12MM tractor.
And you wait
And wait
Then, you realize you have a quarterback problem, it never really went away, Favre just swept it under the rug.
And you wait
A good quarterback is up for trade, like a Cutler or Orton. Vikes pass, 'cause they are waiting, waiting.
And you wait
And you wait
Another good QB is available, Vikes pass, and wait.
And you wait

Maybe he comes back year 2. Repeat above sceanrio, except something happens and it doesn't go so well.
Good QBs available, Vikes pass
Then you wait.
Wait.
Now he retires. Tavaris is gone, as is Sage, they left because they didn't want to wait. Vikes are buried in middle of draft, now you have a quarterback problem that will take years to fix.

That is the essence of the Favre issue. Make up your mind, fish or cut bait. Ted Thompson may have pulled the trigger a year or 2 too fast, but he got the decision made to move on with a quarterback. The Jets weren't so lucky.

The "hire Favre to win one" strategy can have very long term detrimental effects on a team. But if all you want is to put one trophy in that case and mortgage the next 5-6 years to mediocrity it could, possibly work.
If it doesn't work you are as screwed as the Jets.

dcsnomo, this is EXACTLY what I have been trying to explain to people since his name came up as an option.

I said it from day #1, when it was discussed that he was waffling again. If they don't win the SuperBowl with Favre, it was a failure.

Am I enjoying the season? Yes, but the fact is, in football, if you don't win it all, it is considered a failure. And only one team can claim that per year.

GO VIKINGS!!!

You guys are missing the point. I'm not really a Packer fan, really don't care much. Was raised in St. Paul, rooted for Vikings for years.
Re-read my post, it clearly admits the Vikes could win it all. Good luck! Please win! Have at it! Yee Hah! It's not a Packers issue and I really don't care!

Be prepared to wait.
And wait
And wait
While other teams are making off-season long term improvements to their rosters, you will be stuck with a quarterback problem that can't be solved until the guy from Mississippi decides to make a decision.

Ubee, you nailed it, enjoy the ride, long or short. Because if the Favre decision turns out to be wrong you are just as screwed as the Jets. If it turns out right you get a very short term solution to a long term quarterback problem.

Rusty-loosen up your Vikings cap, it's a little too tight. My post was not about who won, I don't care. It is a discussion about the potential costs of the Favre decision for the Vikings. It is interesting to watch. The Jets made the decision and failed. If the Vikes win, you still have to deal with the Favre hangover. You still have a quarterback problem.
