Hey Packer Fans...

If the Vikes are fortunate enough to go to the Super Bowl, and even better, win it, I really wouldn't care what happens next year. Anybody who knows ANYTHING about pro football will admit that it is hard to keep a quality team on the field EVERY year. The window of opportunity is usually 3 to 4 years, and if you don't win inside of that window, it may be 10 more years before you have that chance again. Having a chance to win it all and having a mediocre team year after year are 2 different things. So if Brett Favre is my best chance to win the Super Bowl this year, I will take that chance rather than hope some other QB does just enough NOT TO LOSE.

Of course it is not a failure for the owners, with all the tickets/merchandise, etc. etc. that has been sold.

I'm looking at it from a Fan's stand point. I want to see "my" team WIN IT ALL!!!

If he doesn't get it done this year, (And god forbid we go through another summer like last year) or next year, then what will the Vikings be doing? No one, NO ONE else is prepared. Of course, other positions will suffer, so let's get it done NOW!!

Good point jroz- it will be entertaining to watch it unfold! Last time the Vikes were this good I bought a new TV and the NFL package, I always felt I should have sent Denny Greene the bill.
That was about 10 years ago, so your math is pretty good!

Take a knee Denny Greene? That putz......Most prolific offense in the history of the league at the time, 35 seconds and two time outs from the 30 for a change to go to the SuperBowl? LAME.

That always leaves a bad taste for me when it's brought up......

"Now That's Gotta hurt",. . . . .

How can you say it's a failure if they don't win the Super Bowl? Do you have any idea how tough it is to win one of those? You could say that about every big $ player a team signs. The bottom line is Viking's ownership is stepping up by getting guys like Jared Allen, Bernard Barian and Favre, things we haven't done for years under past ownership. To me, it's been a success already.

We also have had super drafts the past few years. We got AP at #7 a few years ago, Sidney Rice is turning into a very good receiver, and last year we got both Percy Harvin (first round) and a new right tackle (Loadholtz in the third round and he's playing like a veteran). I'm not sure anyone has done better in the draft the past 3 years than the Vikes!

And to say the Jets are screwed is nuts! Mark Sanchez is not too bad and has a good future in this league. At least the Vikes have 2 decent backups at quarterback, and we will not lose both of them. Who is in line for Green Bay should Rodgers go down, which is a good possibility with that O line?

When a player is enshrined in the pro football hall of fame. They go in as a player based on overall career. Not what they did with a certain team. Favre will go in as a player, not a Falcon, not a Packer, not a Jet and not a Viking.
The people complaining about Packer fans booing need help. The guy expected nothing less. You could see it when he winked at his team mates. The same Packer fans that think it was horrible also booed him when he thru his last pass as a Packer and at all the bad throws he made in his career. He always kept you on the edge of your seat, because you didn't know what was going to happen next. He pulled some great plays out of his butt and did a lot of bone headed things also. People only seem to remember the exciting stuff.
Good luck to the Vikings, but remember , don't get to cooshy sitting back in your couch.

No matter what, they were hurting bad to sell tickets this year. And black outs were for sure!

Signed Favre and all that was solved. So there is no way this was a mistake for the Vikings. Keep TJac and Sage around and we are right where we were before if Favre does change his mind, nothing lost. Except some of the younger players are smarter because of it. A few have commented how much they have learned from him already.

Heck of a first half of a season. Hoping for a great the second half.

where do you think the Vikes would be without Farve?? I think the would be hard pressed to be 5-3! Don't get me wrong, I am a vikings fan and I am enjoying the ride but I hope Farve is teaching T Jack and sage something! One thing the packers have is ANOTHER good young qb as long as they can keep him from getting killed! zero chances of this happening but it would be nice to see a healthy sam bradford or colt mccoy in a vikings jersey next year.

Killerbee, I did watch the same game you watched and saw nothing to show He is having his best season EVER, lets get real, if he was not surrounded by the BEST running back AP, some great young recievers and one heck of an Offensive Line he would not be doing what he is doing! I mean he has nothing yet in MN, no Superbowl or 3 MVP's so dont tell me this is his best year ever! Even if he goes on to win a superbowl this year His best years are behind him! He was pretty dam good after week 8 last year then look what happened, so we will have to wait and see! And if this is his best season ever then we here on Packerville have another hall of famer on our hands because Rodgers is beating favre in just about every stat in the book! And the way we threw on the MN secondary in the second half I see no way of then being able to stop the SAINTS passing attack! It will be fun to see how it plays out! And as far as us packer fans that need to get over it, well its hard to when you get sick of hearing about him 24/7 and they have a ticker for him on ESPN half the time! I am happy with A-rod as not many other teams have been able to replace a superstar QB like Brett, and I think GB has! ok that got long winded sorry about that!!

GO PACK... and LET IT SNOW!!!

ridindirty says "we here on Packerville have another hall of famer on our hands because Rodgers is beating favre in just about every stat in the book!", except for the most important thing, and that's winning! What was the Packer's record last year, 6-10? Weren't they 13-3 the year before with Favre at quarterback with virtually the same team? In his second year, Rodgers has done nothing at all. One or two years a career does not make. If Rodgers can do it for another 15+ years and actually start winning more than losing, then maybe you can start comparing him to Favre, until then, it's way premature! The most important thing in the NFL is wins, not stats!

Rodgers is a stat machine, if you play FANTASY football. His stats have all come in garbage time and against the Rams, Browns, Lions, Bears, Bengals, Vikings twice. His record is 4-3. All of his stats against the purple were in the 2nd half of games that were blowouts. I love how Packer fans reach for any endearing quality to embrace a Packer as "one of their own." Face it, the ones that stay around are using their name to promote a restaurant, bar, or another business venture. If they tried the same thing in the area where they are from, their venture would fail 90% of the time. Christ, we can't get rid of Carl Eller!! If he would have played for the Packers, he would have been set for life. Here, he just goes out and tries to get a free meal every night based on his name. My point is that are professional players. Don't fall in love with them or idolize them. They have the same weaknesses or insecurities that we all have. Watch them play, enjoy the success they have, but once they get off the field, you owe them NOTHING. I would rather you get an autograph from your favorite teacher in high school!

I bet the Bears FANS on here are rolling on the floor laughing at Pack /Vikes fans slug it out! Vikes have 0 superbowls going back to Bud Grant that I can remember and Packer Fans should be taking it out on the 3 stooges for not signing BRETT to doing anything but playing football! Its human nature to be held in a headlock for along time and get loose and come out swinging! Bears,Pack chasing Brett and the Vikes! I love it.

In reference to JROZ's total misunderstanding of the Packer fan. I guess we can't expect a non-Packer fan to understand, but I have to try. The Packers are one of if not the most unique sports franchises in the US, (very small market publicly owned team, long history etc, etc.) I think we can all agree with that. When a player comes to the Packers he can't help but become part of the community, and they do become a part of community. The comment "we can't get rid of Carl Eller", heck if he had been a Packer he wouldn't need to look for a free meal, Packer fan would have him over to the house for dinner and that is the difference in the mentality of the Green Bay fan vs. others that you don't get and probably never will. As far as "falling in love" or "idolizing" them, those terms are reserved for a select few well deserving players and Bret was one. "Once they get off the field, you owe them NOTHING", that's right, Packer fan doesn't look at it as owing them, it's a two way street, we visit their restaurants, because we want to, and many of them do great things for our communities, not because they "owe" us or we "owe" them, it's just the way it is. Like I said you probably won't understand.

Mspease, you forgot to put the first part of the quote in, IF BRETT IS HAVING HIS BEST SEASON EVER THEN....... I know Rodgers has done nothing to other then put up good numbers but if we can build a O-line around him and Get a running back the wins will come, he cant do it all! And if Brett was our QB I dont see the PAckers winning anymore games this season with the team we have. Just my 2 cents!

And as far as Jroz saying dont fall in love, not sure that is the right word just passoniate about our team! and key word being OUR as many of us are actually stock owners in the company and OWN a piece of them. And we are lucky that even when we win 4 or 6 games a season we still SELL OUT unlike almost anyother satdium the has more typicaly bandwagon fans... I went to college in MN and was at plenty of half full viking games when they were a 500 team, no thanks to having a good team you can sell it out!

The Metrodome is an abomination. Between the synthetic everything there, and the piped-in noise and music, it is a fake atmosphere for watching a football game. And you wonder why people would not want to spend their hard earned money on a sub-.500 team? Every other team in MN has their own place to play, it's time for our bleeding heart liberal lawmakers to step up and allow for a new Vikings stadium. If we shut our state borders to all the riffraff from out of state that steal our welfare dollars, maybe this would be a possibility. And fcat700, you wouldn't want Carl Eller at your house for dinner.

fcat700 is right, it is our team. Packer fans in Wisconsin refer to "us" and "we" when referring to the team and are very passionate about the team. You may have to wait more than a lifetime for season tickets to open up. Players are treated very well here. In all other NFL cities, they would just be another face in the crowd. Ryan Longwell is a big "a" double "s" who was treated so well here and then did nothing but badmouth Green Bay and Wisconsin when he became a Vikequeen. Many of you seem to think that we are all still stuck on Brent. Wrong! I was on board with Rodgers from the beginning last year and had faith that he would perform well and most of us have moved on. It bothered us as fans also to have Brent flip-flop back and forth for years on whether he was coming back or not. It makes it difficult for the organization to plan for the draft and free agents. Aaron has done very well this year considering his lack of protection. We would not have as many wins this year if Brent was in there, guaranteed. Negative comments are being made that Rodgers holds the ball too long, but Brent would have thrown all interceptions in the same situation back in his younger years. I'd rather take a sack than an interception. What happened to Brent with all the interceptions this year, it's very disappointing? And when did the Vikequeens get an offensive line!? Oh, and Brent hasn't had a "great" season in over 5 years. His last season with the Pack was pretty good, but he sucked the 2 years prior to that. Throughout his career, he had "off" days in which he was so terrible that he should have been benched. When he is on he is great, but when he is off it is painful. Now he is surrounded by good players and getting too much credit for basically handing the ball off a lot, reminiscent of John Elway in his final year.
