Ho Ho, There Goes the Snow

Back on topic! John's new forecast is really depressing for our area! Looks great for other areas. I can't believe (actually I can) how our awesome start has been ruined by this weather. We really needed some fresh snow but looks like mostly rain now. :(

I agree. I'm up here in Hayward and we need these temps to drop fast. Saturday is a long ways away so I'm hopeful this snow system shifts over our way.

When life gives you lemons.....
With the high temps near 60 today, my riding buddies and I are pulling our groovy little vintage motorbikes back out of our sheds for a rare Wisconsin Christmas time motorcycle ride. We're meeting for breakfast then, a ride stopping at some of our favorite snowmo pit stops including a burger for lunch.

I reinstalled the battery and fueled it up, shes ready to go.

I am heading up tomorrow for about a week with my boys....definitely as bummer. You have to ride several lakes to get to the trails from my cabin. Might just try some ice fishing. Maybe that big storm will track south and East a bit !

Good job!
I was told a group of six guys were riding around on X-Mas in Green Bay on Harley's in the fog.
Better than staring at a snowmobile in the garage that has not been on the trail yet.
First year since about 2002 I was not on a trail in December.

I'm guessing that what's left of the trails here are going to be shredded. I just drank a cup of coffee out on my deck and watched about 40 sleds go by. About half of them were throwing up some pretty serious roosts and that can't be good.

Call me "Mr. Glass Half Full", but maybe the rains this weekend will finish flooding the rink for me! About an inch of water is all I need and right now I have 1-2" of slushy snow on top of pretty solid ice.

I am very disappointed it is not going to dump snow though!

Yea, I'm not even going to go up this weekend, there goes my goal of going up every weekend this season. That being said, there should be an awesome base once it starts to snow again!

We've been Grinched!

I took down our Outdoor Christmas lights and display today. Normally we leave them up well into January but as long as I can work outdoors with just a long sleeve T Shirt I decided to take them down. Besides, without snow it just doesn't look right with the brown grass, mud, etc. :confusion:

My son and his friend just got back from a backcountry ride in very northern Houghton county and there is about a foot of snow in the woods. That isn't much.

Raining hard here is St Germain and the whole area. Going to be rough the next week or so to get the trails back in shape. I think nothing but ice early next week at least. And it was such a good start to the season, and of course, the optimum wrod here is "WAS."

What a shame. I feel bad for the businesses up there, such an important week. Hopefully the snow will come back soon and continue.

So was there any snow in north last night or just rain??

I just drove from the Twin Lakes area and it is all rain. In Houghton it's a mix. Last night we got about four inches of crud that is essentially water that resembles snow.

The backcountry is crap right now, the trails look really bad.

I'm calling off the snowmobile season for now.

However we are under a winter storm warning until Tuesday.
