Thanks Wong, you hit the nail on the head with comparison to Polaris with the Gov. contracts. That was my point:) There are many reasons why market share is where it is and it's not always because a product is superior over another:) MHO...

LOL,,,
Guys are jumping doo to get a sidewinder and TCat. LOL,,,,,, where do you people get this malarkey from???
You been riding a snowmobile this year anywhere???? I can count on one hand how many SW's I've seen.

child puhlease,,,

I ride where the snow is abundant in the UP. Ask Kip how many SW's he has sold, lots of them. Doo riders jumping ship to buy SW's.....yes they were 1200 Doo riders. Some with literally bucket loads of money into theirs to run with the stock Yamaha's. Apparently you haven't been on DooTalk. There actually is a section for the 4s riders over there.

The UP is a melting pot for all sorts of snowmobilers from the upper midwest. To say all you see is one brand or style of machine up there......BS.....this was my 16th season in a row riding up there and one of the busiest.

Been on the XR forum since 2009 before i decided to buy a 1200. While there may be a few going to yami SW there are many more who left yami to go to a 1200 and claim this will never go back. And no I do not have my yellow glasses on just read the forum all the time. Many of us could care less about a rocket ship and want a machine that glides through the trails with ease.

Bucket loads of money to run with yamaha's. common bro. a good running stage 1 1200 turbo puts any Yamaha to shame.

The quickest sled of 2017 is the 850, the winders are radar runners, not drag racers.

I wasn't referring to you. As you can see I quoted someone else's post. If you are on Dootalk then you would know there is quite a few like JTMetal, KnappAttack, RockerDan, XP123, SJ........just to name a few that actually have jumped to the SW. Most everyone I mentioned either had the header pipe and Powerblock mod or a turbo setup on ther 1200. The lesser 150HP mod kit is in the neighborhood of $2500 all said and done, obviously the turbo setup is way more $$.

I agree that some have left, and the ones you name have always been about top HP and speed, not about overall ride. My 1200 is a rocket ship up to 60-70 then slow rolling to about 105-110 depending on conditions. But I was looking for dependability and ride, if I wanted top speed I would have kept my 800, or now yes get a SW. Many guys still love the 1200 without the turbo.

And what did knapp do to the Yamaha's he raced? JT is an rambling idiot. Rocker dan and XP123 have naturally aspirated 1200s, what Yamaha are they going to run with....surely not a sidewinder?

Can't argue numbers with Doo. They sell a lot:) However, I've sold just over 40 Sidewinder's this year so they have been selling well. I did talk to Knapp and he loves the Sidewinder after riding it and he's looking to purchase one. Mike goes where the power is for sure:) You do see a lot of Yams in the U.P. but I think in other areas they are more scarce.

According to what?

Have you actually ran an 850 against a Winder?

Every person I know with a SW that rides with the new Doo 850's have stated it's no contest. One fella owns both, stills says the SW is hands down faster and quicker. Even if the 850 gets the jump it's over in a few hundred feet. Sorry but a turbo is a whole different world. Completely different powerband.

I ran a couple 850's last week on my Attak, I stayed ahead well past the century mark, never caught me. Just clutched and a better track and 15,000 miles on the ticker. As said, they are about the same as the 800 E-Tec's for performance. If you want to state the AM Snow shootout they were behind the Poo 800. That was just one place, one day, one condition.

You didn't get my point. They don't make a factory 1200 turbo. I don't care what stage it is, it cost more to build a 1200 Doo turbo than it does to buy a new SW or TCat with a factory turbo with 10 times the engineering. Also if you go bonkers on boost the 1200 isn't built with the internals to hold together. You have to go into the internals. I know some guys that made the mistake of over boosting a 1200 on a stock engine....scattered.

As for full blown turbos on the 4s's, again Yamaha wins. Why does OSP dominate in the outlaw classes with turbo Apex motors? OSP's full blown turbo drag race Apex motors are turning over 700 HP on the dyno and they have bucket loads of trophies and records to prove it.

I raced the one i seen and it got its a s s drug like it was tied to a tree.

Why dont u ask KRM who has both an 850 and a SW and has them studded equally and is a very capable tuner which one is quicker to 1000 feet. Or A7 who has both. The SWs are slow too 500 feet after 1000 yes they start to run. But a good running/ tuned 800 will drag them bad. Doesnt mean they are faster but for sure quicker.

I am not brand loyal at all, but you are so full of it. 200+HP vs 165 HP, give me a break. This kind of crap is expected from kids not adults. Get a grip

I'd be glad to run you anytime and I don't have a SW and nothing to lose with my old machine. I know the other two fellas weren't smug anymore. :cool2:

I am sure your new technology machine rides and handles better, it should but mine pulls like a freight train in a drag race. I used to wrench for a Pro drag racer. But to be honest I can ride with the best in the trails too. No one seems to pass me. Can't imagine how I'd be on a SW........:)

I've had many guys in here and I always ask their opinions, they love their doos just like you momoney but they are also realistic when approached with some humility. They love the 850 and will openly admit that the SW outruns them without problem and it stands to reason. That's like arguing a SW is lighter than the 850, come on man:) I've also spoke with many who have the 800 Poo and have run them neck and neck with the 850. Actually spoke with a gentleman today who has the 800 Doo and 850 and he told me his 800 gives the 850 everything it wants. Maybe he has a good running 800 but it's not the first time I've heard a Doo guy tell me his 850 has great mid range but their 800's are very comparable on top end. It makes sense.

In a drag the SW cant beat the 850, in a radar run yes. All being equal. these must be some sick 850s as the poo isn't much of a race for mine neither is the 800 etecs. I will say my sled is setup to drag race and has been tested. there is a lot to be had from stock clutching. Bring it ladies I welcome any sidewinder to a 660 foot race.

This sure got to be hostile. I thought it was a thread about starters. There are many reasons Doo sells more sleds than the others. They have both 2 strokes and 4 strokes and they push both hard. Pol is not in the four stroke market. Yami is not in the two stroke market. AC is trying hard to do both but they just don'e have the $$$$ that Doo has. Maybe they will now. There was a time when Yami was the sales king. It is getting to be a long time ago but it was true. Then Polaris got to be the leader for quite a while. There are still tons of XC's out on the trails. Even XLT's. What comes around goes around. Doo is tops now. But all the companies have good ideas and all have contributed to the innovation of the sport. Tracker is right - AC started batteryless EFI. Along with A arm front suspensions when everyone else was using trailing arms. Pol was the first with IFS. And Pol had the best clutching for many years. Yami was one of the first to use an oil injection system. And of course nobody ever crammed a motorcycle engine into a sled before Yami. They are all good and they are all junk. The only thing that has remained the same is the fierce brand loyalty by snowmobilers in general. Momoney and XXX007 are good examples. No matter what gets discussed they will not be swayed. You have to respect them for that. You also have to kick their butts with other colored sleds when the opportunity presents itself. Personally I like the new starter on the 'Doos. But I have too much Arctic clothing to make the switch.
