Well, I also added a Bushmaster Carbon 15 rifle with a Bushnell red dot scope and 2-30 round clips to my arsenal. $300 off at Dunhams.

THESE TWO QUOTES MIGHT NOT BE THE BEST EXAMPLES OF MY POINTS IN THIS POSTI figured that since I have 1000 rounds of .223 ammo and a 1000 rounds of 5.56 NATO ammo. I may as well buy 2 guns that accept either ammo and work.
AR15 under the bed and 3-45's with 60 some rounds within arm's reach.
As for the original question. I have a Remington 870 handy, a Ruger 9mm with 10, 15 and 30 shot magazines not far away. I think a 357 is in my future, and would like a .22, or something small, for my wife.
Sounds like you guys are expecting an invasion. Maybe an entire rogue motorcycle gang, or drugged up street gang to come through your door. One thing to be prepared for a break in. But you all have visions of Armageddon in your heads. After 3 or 4 shots if your still pulling the trigger, self defense or not there are going to be a lot of questions being asked. Not to mention an awful lot of drywall repair.
I'm figuring that (hoping)when I rack the pump of my 12 gauge they (the bad guys) are headed out. Can't imagine how loud that would be in a silent house at 3AM. I do also have a fair stash of weapons and ammo, if needed for other reasons, civil unrest, terrorist activity gone crazy, or if some kind invasion of the US were to happen. Not really a prepper, but hey you never know. But any scenario like that there would be time to prepare and get arms out of storage. Even riots in the streets are generally confined to the streets and business's being looted, and again plenty of time to arm yourself.
SORRY FOR THE RANT COULDN'T HELP MYSELF!!
so you disagree with how much a person can own or how prepared one could be for a variety of unknowns. You think Armageddon is a joke? What if large scale civil unrest, racial uprising, famine, economic collapse. Better to be prepared than unprepared. Leave the decisions up to the citizens without questioning them. It's our right to own as much as we like. What we need is less rhetoric and more rational leaders.Sounds like you guys are expecting an invasion. when the libs run a muck the rational hunker down fully prepared. BO is sure stimulating the economy, specifically arms dealers and manufacturers.Added a Bushmaster quick response carbine to the herd. 5.56 NATO. Ammo shelves were bare tonight. It was being rationed at the local sport shop. They normally close at 5pm on Sunday, they stayed open till 9pm.

I was told Remington bought Bushmaster recently. Just doing my part to "Buy American ". Was looking at a Taurus 9 mm and passed on it since it is made in South America.
And there was another post of having a shotgun, and a 9mm with 10, 15, and 30 shot clips within reach.
Thought this would have posted as update on last post
good point, my bad for missing that, part. I guess my only defense for forgetting the thread title would be the multiple intruders or having a fire arm for all family members for their particular capacity. No I'm not disagreeing with being prepared for large scale civil unrest, think I make that clear in my post. I may have mistaken the intent of this thread. I took it as home defense in the event of a break in. That's why I thought peeps were way over doing it with what they were indicating they had at arms reach. To be pulled out at the first thought of a intruder in the night. If the point of the thread is defense in the event of economic collapse or civil unrest, then the more arms the better. Again I think my post indicated that. The posts of having several high capacity magazines within reach, seems to me to be a bit of over zealousness. Or the idea of needing several weapons on deck and unsecured. In the event of all H... breaking loose you will have time to retrieve arms out of gun safes etc. Had I thought this thread was about an immediate threat of complete governmental breakdown, and what you defend your home with. My personal list of arms and ammo stash may very well make preppers feel inadequate, but I'm not going there, or even going to reveal how large my gun safe is.
