We dropped in Greenland and rode north today. Trails were excellent to Houghton. Snirty til we were north of the bridge a few miles on tr. 3 then good trails to Calumet.
Trail 3 gets thin north of Calumet, so we turned around about 7 miles north of there. Steady traffic for a Monday and we did hit chop in certain areas. 160 mile round trip with overall a B grade avg.

Hey Excessive force, Heading to Twin Lakes next week thursday (hopefully) is there still a fair amount of snow to survive this weekends warm temps?

Same for us, we changed our plans from riding this week, to next week starting Tuesday based off forecasts. Boy was that a mistake. Warm Sat-Monday now. We were to go up Tuesday morning to base out of Houghton. Not sure if we should cancel or not. I don't expect there to be much left after Monday's high temps and rain...... Arg..

I am in the same boat was going to head up Tuesday or Wednesday night...now the forecast is calling for another warm up and John's extended doesn't look promising. Perhaps time to give up on the year. :( My other thought was Eastern UP near Newberry according to the snow cover maps I have looked at they still have decent snow and are getting a decent amount now. Not sure what to do, quit for the year or squeeze in the last trip next week and hope for the best.

If houghton area grooms from the bridge north starting Monday night, or tuesday day time. I think the trails will be ok, especially with a few inches or so of fresh fluff. But if they don't groom until Tuesday night, or not at all; It's done. Does anyone have any connections that can find out come this sunday or monday what the grooming plans will be?

If I had plans I would go. I can't imagine you wouldn't be able to ride, but I doubt you would have very good luck south of Mass if they don't get any fresh snow...

Three days of 40, one day almost 50, one day with rain. Think they will have enough snow to keep some descent trails? My biggest worry is they don't groom after monday March 6th.

I would probably stay in South Range if I go, but I heard they were not grooming trail 3 south of the bridge all the way to south range and it isn't the greatest due to lack of snow. Right now I think I am going to just call it quits. My other thought was Newberry in Eastern UP, I think they have a little more snow and little more areas to ride to with okay snow. Plus they are getting fresh stuff today. Who knows, will be a last minute call I guess, either go or quit for the year. Probably wait until Tuesday to see what happens with the warm up again.

I just saw a video on facebook of the groomer going past D's Basecamp yesterday. So, they are grooming south of the bridge.

I just got done riding trail 3 from Houghton to Mass City about 4 hours ago and it was groomed smooth. We even passed the groomer on the Freda loop trail 120. Then rode to Krupps area and took 13 towards Rockland, last half was bumpy but first half was smooth. Rode all around the peninsula and it was awesome the last 3 days. But temps, rain and some sun are going to hurt.

I guess wait and see what the temps/ rain do on Sunday and Monday and make last minute decision on Tuesday if I am coming or not for the last rip.

We are basically doing the same thing. If we go, we'll get up there late Tuesday night. Start riding on Wednesday. Hopefully the trails get groomed Tuesday night going into Wednesday. Staying at the Super 8 in Houghton.

Gotcha, our club trip next thurs-sunday, we will be there for sure, looking like they may get some snow everyday starting monday night. Nothing crazy but an inch a night helps.
