Heard about it from a friend during the 03 season I believe. Glad to have it because now there is no need to be on facebook. My friends are here.

I think someone had it linked from trailconditions.com about 4 years ago and I checked it out. Just read the journals and watched the webcams for the last 4 years. I just started checking out the forums a few months ago and I'm sure glad I did. Lost of helpful info and good people on here!

maddog, I spent too much time on here! LOL. Just kidding. I dunno, I started asking John lots of weather related questions, I always tried to help other people on the site as much as I could, John and I had a few e-mail conversations, then he said, well the next time your up, we should hook up for a ride. So, we did. March of 2004. I now consider John a very good friend. I am pretty sure the internet is responsible for lots and lots of friendships.

About seven or eight years ago someone mentioned this site on Pasty cam, so I tried it and have been hooked ever since even though I do not snowmobile. From the first I liked the topics John wrote about, his pictures of walks with Burt and Baileys and of the snow.
My family comes from Calumet and I lived there for a few years when I was very young. I have been there every year since so this site brought me closer to where my heart is. Also, over the years, we got to know 'friends' that also post on this site and can relate and discuss lifes ups and down with them.

I was talking sled talk one day at work with one of the "old timers". He was telling me these crazy stories about this magical place where he grew up and how it snowed from Dec-april EVERY year with very few thaws in between. He told me there was so much snow so often that he would ride his sled 60 miles to work each day in the winter, because it was actualy easier and faster than taking his car. I asked him where this magical place was and how do I get there. He told me of a man he new named John who lived right near where he grew up. Said he was a transplant from Park Ridge, not a local, but that he started a web site with quite a bit of info on the area. I logged on that night, I think 1998/99. I don't think there was even a discusion board at that point. I have been on this site every day since.

My name is Adam, and I'm a JohnDee-o-holic

My insurance guy and fellow snowmobiler hooked me up in '02. But i did not register until '07. just checked trail reports and other peoples ramblings prior to '07. Been an addict ever since! probably 3-4 times a day when J-D does the winter stuff.

Shortly after my first experience on a snowmobile I started scouring snowmobile sites. I came across a thread about weather and there was a comment to the originator "Who do you think you are John Dee?" So I set out to find out who this John Dee guy was and got hooked the first time I opened the site.

Back in 04 I think. I was looking for "Copper Harbor Cams" and found Sharon Smith's "A View From the Field" site. She had this site as one of her favorites, and the rest is history. Now I am an addict just like the rest of you, and I haven't even had a sled for 7 years!!
