I'm part of a large group of guys that has been going to the Lake Gogebic area every year in January since 1993, but we had to cancel our weekly trip starting this Saturday for the first time in those 20 years! I can't believe it. :( However, we are hoping the LES gets going, as John is predicting, and we are re-booking for the 21st-24th.

How many out there have had to cancel trips this year? I feel for the business owners up there!

We (Wife and I) cancelled a New Years Weekend trip to the UP... We have 8 of us booked for the 23rd - 27th and really hoping the snows come to the UP. We are working on plan B (Black Hills) if we need to.

Ive got a group of 8 going to the keweenaw in the beginning of feb. Im hoping that John is right and the LES starts to kick into high gear and the northwoods get the snow that they so badly need. I really dont want to have to do like clark_w and head to west to SD to my family's place in the hills. This season SUCKS!!

Canceled Dec. 14 & 15 in the Keweenaw, Moved Dec 28th-Jan 3rd from the Keweenaw to up by Pine stump. Canceled Jan 11th - 13th. Hope like heck the 18th and 19th trip stays in place or might have to get the Harley out.

Canceled Jan 2-6, and just canceled Jan 19-21. Both to UP (Houghton). Still planning on Ride-in and that won't get canceled even if there is no snow unless John cancels the event.

On the brighter side, my Feb 15-19 trip just went from 2 of us to 10, and now I'm looking at adding one in for Feb 21-24.

From Iowa, 6 of us had to cancel our trip to the UP over New Year's. Instead we rode 2 days in Madison, WI during that time. Not knocking Madison by any means, but it sure ain't the UP. Now we are just going to have to be flexible and go when there is snow assuming that happens. If the LES kicks in next week I bet MLK weekend will be busy in the UP! Jim

I cancelled the Dec. 19th trip and then went with my wife for New Years. We put on 250 miles and luckily had a nice snow shower one of the nights we were up and were able to ride in some powder.

We were also going to be heading up tomorrow until Wednesday. A group of 3 of us. We cancelled that and are going up next Saturday. We ride Munising.

That's 2 trips I've cancelled and moved so far this season. I hope I don't have it happen again. Another trip is planned around president's day in Feb. If that trip is no good I'll just fish. The steelhead become a little more aggressive if it warms up a little.

Cancelled my group's NW WI trip for the weekend of 1/25 and rescheduled it for that same weekend in the U.P. I'm really hoping the LES kicks in big time like we all are!

Good move.... Just wait till like the 20th to get hotels and you will know where the best snow is.

Supposed to be there now, but the 8 of us decided to cancel after reading reports, getting told info, and seeing forecast. Talked to guy that had been going up there for almost 30 years for the first week of January. First time he said they ever wished they didn't go up it was so bad. Lots more bad than fair/good trails.

Plan on getting up there, but a bit nervous to pull trigger again on lodging until I actually see lots of snow on the ground. I know, that may hose me when I go to book after seeing snow, but after riding up there last year in poor to bad conditions and this happening this year, just don't want to get expectations up again just to be let down. Let's hope new forecast sticks this time around.

Cancelled 2 trips, first one December 20-23 and the second January 3-5 both to Lake Gogebic. Rode Lodi for a day, not bad to get the blood flowing. Planning on Jan 25-28 then right back Super Bowl weekend, followed by a hopeful mid February trip.

We have a group of 10 that are supposed to be in Hurley/Gogebic right now. Cancelled that and moved it to MN North Shore, then last night made the call to cancel that too. Two trips cancelled in one weekend. We are very bummed, but the pink on the forecast graphic helps a little. :)
