How many folks are taking the money they are not spending and saving for a side by side??

I've rented some sxs in the past few years and it honestly doesnt do the same as sleds. For the few places in the midwest that have actual trails not just road riding, I can rent for about $400/day. Between the price for them and limited use/always dirty im alright with that.

Agree with the dirt issue 100% SledTL. I'll deal with the dir5t, dust, and mud on the farm, but for recreational use No Way! To enjoy for recreation, a fully enclosed, tight sealed climate controlled cab is a must. Friend of mine went from a Poo Ranger to a Poo General, and no A/C, or tightly enclosed cab. Bad mistake as he and his wife now stick to paved roads. That's not for me, and I get enough of that daily on the farms. For what hes got in the General $$$, that's 2 very good new sleds.

I love snow! Summer just makes me sleepy. My life has revolved around these 3 precious months every year. 4 years ago my ability to walk degraded quickly between the Milwaukee snow show and the Novi snow show. A month later I had back surgery and was told I could Not snowmobile that season. Devastating news. But I made lemonade out of it and drove to the restaurants/bars to meet up with my buddies on sleds. I will have a sled till …..

If I lived in the UP again maybe the UTV would mean more than Utility Vehicle. My tractor is second to my sled(s), then the RV and somewhere at the bottom the UTV. I will never own another ATV as I lost my brother in law to a neck injury on one.

To the OP here is the difference imo, an ORV/UTV/ATV is basically going on roads/trails with many others. Summer is most peoples favorite time of year. Because of the snow limiting access to vehicles and cold driving people in doors it provides more solitude/escape from the hustle and bustle.

Nothing compares to riding a snowmobile!

The dust and dirt is a bit of a pain for sure. But I'll take the wind in my hair every. single. day. compared to riding around in a fully enclosed cab. If I want that experience, I can ride in my car.
For me, the open air, the mud puddles, etc. are very similar to finding untouched powder on my sled. I've ridden sleds for almost 50 years now, and I don't intend to stop, but my Can Am Maverick is an absolute blast to ride!

Guess I'll weigh in on this one. I had no intention of buying a new sled this year so the money sits in the bank until something catches my eye. That being said, nothing beats a quick rip down a groomed trail but the snowmobile season is just too short. Heck this year it was nonexistent. Sure, it saves wear and tear on the machine but I didn't buy it to park it for 364 days out of the year, and that's what happened this year. One day, one ride, pffft!

We've had boats and watercraft for many years but I ended that after a recent bout with Skin Cancer. I still miss being out on the lakes but when your Doc mentions the "C" word he'll have your full attention.

So that leaves me with the Spyder. It has all the bells and whistles you could ask for and it's used from April to October. Great for running errands or cruising the back-country roads.

I guess the bottom line is...find something you enjoy and something you can afford because ...
Life is too short, live every day like it's your last!:)

Same here..... I breathe sleds 24/7 and so does my son. I don't have any other activities other than sledding, not that I couldn't but nothing compares to it. If I was to get a SxS it would have to be a UTV for our place up north. My wife loves the outdoors, especially during the summer. She likes gardening, working on the yard and even getting wood. A UTV would be great for her as long as it's fully enclosed with a heater and A/C. We have a golf cart now, that fits the bill and the cost of a SxS, forget it. There is enough to do on the sleds during the summer to keep both my son and me busy. Oh, and we are restoring vintage sleds....LOL

Should add.... We have a couple of Sparks that we bought to ride around the lake, but those hardly get used and if so it's mostly by the grandkids. They are 1st year (2014) Sparks, still in excellent shape.

My advice is to check on the deals right now, if you are looking new. Inventory will only go down, and I doubt the discounts will go up. Used is probably a different story.

Dust Dust Dust and Hot in the cab. Not for me. Saving for my build of my new cabin this summer, Already have 2 can am 2 seaters that we don't ride much, mostly sneak around on my golf cart.
Man, you are right about that. Can Am especially needs to figure out the heat in the cab. They are downright unpleasant to ride if it's above 80. But so far, that's the only drawback I've found.

The Northstar is definitely the main machine I see out there. The new expedition is pretty much a small truck. Seems like most machines out there are totally enclosed. If I wanted to do that would just bum around in my truck, way more roomy and comfortable. All we got on our RZR is a windshield and most likely get a rear window.

Plow comes off in 5 seconds. No more dust, bugs, or sweating for this guy. The wife getting a giant dragon fly down her shirt between her sweater pillows was the last straw for her. Get something with a cab she said!! Can still open the windshield and roll the windows down. Nice to close it all back up though to.

How do you like that new Xpedition? I'm currently in talks with my local dealer on getting the exact same thing you have. the only complaints I've really seen is cab noise. Is it really that loud? Overall though, how are you liking it? I have nobody around me that has one, at least yet.

It is noisy. Well atleast noisier than my general was. Really only notice it being loud up over 40 mph and I think they all get loud then. I sat at an idle in my buddy's yard showing him the awesome stereo system last summer on a day it was over 100 degrees out and he was shivering when he got out. Its the only utv that has a cooling package like that. There is no way a can am's HVAC would keep up. Stupid money but you only live once and the wife enjoys it. Charity ride last weekend and we were in tshirts at 30 degrees. Its nice!!

I have a 2017 Bad Boy Stampede with full cab & I have found the same issues, dust & hot. Even when I replace the full doors with the half doors, it's too uncomfortable in the heat of summer. This thing doesn't need a heater for cold weather as I stay comfortable while plowing snow. It's ideal for Fall, Winter & early Spring, but summers, it sucks! This is my 3rd sxs & has been the best so far, built like a tank, solid 900cc twin German made engine, solid frame, great power, eps, sound system, 42" led light bar, led rear spot lights etc... All I know is I am not intersted in spending 25+ grand on one with a sealed cab with heat & AC etc... Might as well have another truck.

Nice! I'm debating on going with the '24 or just waiting for the '25s to come out. It is a chunk of change no doubt. But it'll definitely get used.
