How was your riding season ?

About a typical year for me, a little above 1,500 miles. Didn't get any chance to ride locally or lower wisco, snow just wasn't there. Definitely did not push it too much this year and totally fine with that. Did not make 2 of my usual trips due to kiddos in sports. Wanted to upgrade sleds for next year but selling it for a big upgrade to the side by side. I will have to figure something out for next snow season but probably downsizing sleds for more side by side riding. Definitely not getting out of the sport.

Our favorite place to ride (The Black Hills, SD) had the worst snow season on record. We should have adapted and chased the snow, but kept holding out for a big storm out there which never happened. One trip up to MN in blistering cold (-13) which the kid couldn't handle. LOL! Got out for one day locally (rare these days). Then we did finally get out to The Hills for one trip 2/18. The conditions were actually better than we had anticipated they would be. Thought I might be renting a sled to avoid over-heating my long track, but it never got over 135. And found some decent pow to satisfy the my son, although every time we'd take off he'd say "let's go find some more powder, Dad" (which was not easy given the conditions).

Lots of mods to the kids EVO prior to the season and they did help with his ability to carve in the snow a fair bit, but the sled is just designed to stay planted on the trails to get younger riders more confident. His sled sold last week, glad to have that taken care of and not sit on it till Fall. Plan to move him up to a proper long track next season. The other was all summerized last weekend and tucked away for the long Spring, Summer and Fall.

A couple of pics from The Hills trip...
Never ridden the BH's but have visited in March once before. It certainly is a beautiful area, they can get late season storms.

Thank you everyone for bringing this thread to life, it’s always so enjoyable to read about other snowmobile lore, it’s a passion we all have that we are able to share amongst ourselves
Big thank you to Kip at Pat’s Motorsports for his great conversations and also to Timberline Sports, they really came up to bat for me, I was on a trip and my VESS key went out on my skidoo and they were able to put a new post and key in for me and got me back on the trail
thanks again to all that made the 2022 season what it was

ACE671A5-1035-4419-B5BE-A1FB0FC4ECBF.jpeg It was a good season sans a few issues, but that's why I have three sleds at the ready.

2021 850 XCR had some valve issues, so at 1500 miles it was time to jump on the backup.

2200 miles from there the 2018 800 XCR had valve issues as well, so onto the backup to the backup.

Put 650 miles on the 2016 800 Pro-S until the '18 valve parts came in.

Even squeezed in 40 miles on the 1993 XCR 440 this year! That was a fun little ride.

Then put just shy of another 1000 miles on the 2018.

Now the 2021 is back from the warranty fix and sitting in the truck waiting for one more run!

I think it’s time to rebuild the 2018….

18 days on the snow for me. 4 of them on the mountain sled in the yoop, rest were trail riding with the fiancé and little man. Great winter full of memories, not a ton of big rides, but a big variety that’s for sure. Wish the local trails would’ve opened, love riding from the doorstep. 3 full weekend trips spent in St Germain, Minocqua, and Crivitz. Wish I squeezed one more trip in the weekend of March 12, but the little man was pretty sick so we stayed home. Oh well, onto baseball! Indy that's awesome that you all go out as a family. The "little man" will always remember those rides no matter how insignificant they may seem at the time. You are doing a great job. Congratulations.

X2! You're doing it right indy, it's all about family! That's how snowmobiling got to be in the beginning, eh.

for the wife and I it was a good year. Mass, Land O, Bergland, Munising, and Calumet were the starting points this year. All great trips. Munising was the highlight this year and oh how we like all the forest there to play in, and I did not include Calumet and Keweenaw in my decision since it is always good anytime of year we go. We have not been about the big miles days last 2 years, been riding all of the area we go and exploring as we plan to move north in the near future.

Never fails to surprise me how many miles you rack up in a season!

It was just a tick below average year for me. 1100 miles. I had to travel for all my trips this year. We were consistently 2-4" away from our local trails opening many times. Disappointed all of our marking and brushing was for naught this season, but I look at that as my price to ride other trails! How it goes sometimes. We only took the groomer out once, and only 5 miles. had to turn around due to low snow in areas.

I made two day trips up to Tomahawk. I made it to Tim's Hill, which was on my bucket list for awhile. Great trails that way!
My 2.5 year old got on 300 miles this year. He loves it! 30 miles of that was in my backyard on his little 40CC!
He learned a hard reality when he jumped on it last weekend when I was cleaning them, and we had no snow:(
No breakdowns with all 3 sleds.

Indeed! The sled does not do well in deeper snow, only hardpack. This helped with him learning. When majority of the deeper stuff melted and most was hardpack, that got a little more nerve racking! It no longer kept him contained! He missed the turn and went flying towards my neighbor's driveway and I had to run after him. We then worked on the gas and brake. He got it down pretty well. We'll see if he remembers next year:) #WOT
